Arsčne Wenger was understandably chuffed yesterday after Arsenal's demolishing of Liverpool at Anfield.
The Gunners won 6-3 and it could have been more had Julio Baptista not miss a penalty. The Brazillian international ended up scoring 4 goals to secure the tie.
Wenger said that he always had confidence in Baptista to do well.
Wenger said: "I always believed it takes time to adapt to English football.
"I always believed in him because he's a mentally very strong boy and has a very good team attitude."
The Arsenal manager also revealed that he has no intention of selling French striker Jeremie Aliádíčre. Wenger had already sold Anthony Stokes to Sunderland and it was widely thought that Wenger would sell Aliádíčre as well.
Wenger added: "I don't like to lose him [Aliádíčre].
"I see signs in training that he has made big steps forward and he gave an outstanding performance tonight. I do not want to sell him but he is not happy because he does not play enough, but I will try to keep him."
The Emirates boss was also especially proud of three of his young charges last night - Brazilian Under-19 captain Denilson, French left back Armand Traore and Academy midfielder Mark Randall.
Wenger continued: "All the three are very young, 18 and 17, so it is a tremendous achievement for them to match the players at that level.
"They are young but have shown great potential every time they play. I'm confident that these kind of games can develop our young players and that's why we try to do that for this competition."
In other news, there are press reports today of Italian giants AC Milan and Juventus chasing the signature of winger Freddie Ljungberg, who has reportedly been put on the transfer list by Arsenal.
