Thank you Lauren!

Thank you Lauren!

Lauren is one of my favourite Arsenal players of all time. Not only that, I admire him very much as a sportsman.

Lauren has been a loyal and an extremely consistent and important part of the Arsenal set up that has gained worldwide recognition under Wenger.

Lauren even sacrificed his own promising international career partly because of his commitment to this team. In the post-Bosman world of football, such loyalty is rare. What is also rare is a player who has been so consistent over the five to six years.

Lauren is a tough competitor who is always prepared to stick his foot in and was committed in every game. He has never been intimidated and along with Vieira, he was part of the brute force that Arsenal could apply when the premiership needed it.

Lauren converted from midfield to defence and did so in the full glare of the public in competitive matches without losing his place or his confidence.

He helped Arsenal to two premiership titles and three FA cup titles in his new role. It is also worth remembering that in every season, Lauren made the premiership all star first eleven as the right back of choice apart from last year. He did so quietly but it is clear that his attributes were appreciated by the football community.

I am sure that many Arsenal fans are very sorry to see Lauren go. I am personally sad to see him leave.

One small sour note is that I would have wished for Lauren to go away from the premiership instead going to a rival. But that's not worth mentioning now; he has earned the right to do what he wants.

Today I'm sure all Arsenal fans will want to wish Lauren all the best in his new challenge and a big Thank You for his contribution to Arsenal. Let's hope he can help Portsmouth take points away from our rivals!

Great player. His penalty against Spurs and goal in the 3-1 cup win at Chelsea are great memories. Gutted he's gone.

Im a great Arsenal fan and Lauren has been of great service to the team, with him in the team there was no doubt that he dominated the right hand side of the field. Its a shame we couldn't keep such a good player like him. On that note I would like to wish him all the best on the remainder of his football career
