Ferguson reacts to Wenger hearsay

Sir Alex Ferguson has lashed out in response to comments regarding the Red Devils, as told second hand by Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini.

According to the Frenchman, Gunners boss Arsène Wenger had told his team that the Manchester United squad loses their thunder after 70 minutes of playing.

These alleged comments were shared earlier in the week, prior to the Premiership clash that ended with an epic 2-1 Arsenal victory.

Of the supposed remarks, Ferguson said, "I am not sure what his point was; maybe he was trying to make himself look great again – 'I am the great Arsène Wenger'."

Ferguson wrote off the Wenger hearsay as being both "petty" and "non-sense."

The Manchester United boss gave a different explanation of the 2-1 defeat, citing a breakdown in his squad's mental game.

"Maybe when we are in winning positions we relax and take our foot off the pedal a little.

"Against Arsenal it was a lack of concentration. We were in a winning position and we were all gutted."

Being less than diplomatic, Sir Alex Ferguson's mockery of Arsène Wenger was severely uncalled for, considering the comments that enraged Ferguson were, in fact, hearsay.

Unfortunately for the Red Devils, "the great Arsène Wenger" coached his men to the only double over Manchester United in the Premiership this season, accounting for 2 of only 3 United losses.

One would only think a manager holding such a solid lead in the league would let the football speak for his squad, but perhaps ...

Perhaps a double to a man who makes "petty" and "nonsense" remarks is a little too difficult for a certain manager to handle?

ferguson has no clue. those comments were in no way meant to be a sly dig at United. they were given at half time with the view to encourage our men to be able to win the game, which they did! i' pretty sure that at half time against united wenger has more important things on his mind than a put down of fergie
