Gibbs scores winner against Manchester United

Arsenal beat Manchester United in front of an almost 40,000-crowd at the Emirates Stadium to take the advantage in the first leg of the FA Youth Cup semi-final.

17-year-old Lambeth-born Kieran Gibbs, scored the first goal United had conceded in the competition.

Arsenal could potentially face holders Liverpool or Newcastle United should they kill off the tie at Old Trafford on April 2.

Gavin Hoye, brother of Justin Hoyte, said: "The likes of [Wayne] Rooney, [David] Beckham and [Ashley] Cole have all won the FA Youth Cup.

"It shows you that you can make it from the youth systems. It's hard, no doubt, but if you work hard you can become one of the great players."

French left-back Armand Traore provided the assist for the goal.
