Henry: This is not the time to panic

Captain Thierry Henry has issued a rallying cry to his team mates and especially to Arsenal fans by saying that this is not the time to panic.

The striker surprisingly said that he was more concerned about finishing fourth last season, and that this season the club's fate is in its own hands.

The Gunners take on Bolton today, who are fifth in the league and just 2 points behind the North London club.

Arsenal have a game in hand though, and Henry was quick to remind everybody about this.

He said: "We must not get too crazy about the situation. We must not panic, just try to get the three points.

"It is vital we finish in the top four but we have a game in hand, too.

"Nobody enjoys playing against Bolton, let's be honest. But they have done tremendously well ever since they came to the Premiership.

"It wasn't a very long time ago we hadn't beaten Manchester United for many, many games but this season we've beaten them twice.

"I have respect for Bolton, like everybody in this league — and you don't see it in other leagues anywhere else where Portsmouth beat Manchester United, then Watford beat Portsmouth.

"I have been here a long while now and it still surprises me that anyone can beat anyone.

"Of course I respect Bolton, they are only two points behind us and they have a chance.

"It's a tricky question whether I enjoy watching Bolton but it doesn't matter what people say about their approach.

"At least it is in our hands now. I was more concerned last season when it wasn't.

"I don't want to be over-confident but it is a fact our destiny is still in our hands. That gives you a feeling of some security.

"The way I was approaching it last season was that it was in Tottenham's hands and I knew that even if we won all our games, we might not qualify for the Champions League.

"Then I was worried, even though I wasn't openly admitting it at the time."

Perhaps it is worth reminding Henry that the pessimists amongst us are convinced that despite the situation being in our hands, something will happen to make it all go to pot!

He's absolutely spot on there. Last year's 4th place was much more in doubt than this year's. the reason we didn't feel it as much was the Champions League run. it kept our minds off the 4th place problem.
