Dein exits Arsenal

Arsenal vice-chairman David Dein has left the club with immediate effect this evening.

It is thought that Dein disagreed strongly with the other board members, who wanted to wait a year before deciding whether to sell further shares to American tycoon Stan Kroenke.

Kroenke already owns just over 11% of Arsenal shares after purchasing ITV Granada's shares and some from Danny Fiszman, also a board member at the club.

In a statement, chairman Peter Hill-Wood said: "On behalf of the board I would like to express our gratitude to David Dein for the many years of loyal service he has given to the club.

"We sincerely regret that irreconcilable differences between Mr Dein and the rest of the board have necessitated a parting of the ways."

i heard he was the reason why viera and cole left, yeah he got us wenger, but maybe he could have done alot more to keep arsenal up there challenging.

I was sad to hear that David Dein has left the club.He was Arsenal through and through.But wasnt he the man who Ashley Cole criticised in Cole`s book.He`s the man who Cole said was at every stage of the tapping up saga and wouldnt believe Cole

If the remaining board have 45.45% and Dein + Yank have 25% - who owns the rest?

speculation has begun re the friendship between Arsene and David Dein, and where this will leave or boss - do, should we worry... i dont know, but i do know that the main man has always said our club should retain its tradition, so will he be glad or sad that mr dein has gone.... the man it would seem who wanted to sell our club - i am not sure, but what i do know, if PH-W believes and practices what he says, then all will be fine... and i wonder, all the times he has said we had money, who has stopped Le Boss from spending it... Maybe, just maybe, and shoot me down if you like, money will now be spent in the summer..... just hope i am right...
