Arsenal director Danny Fiszman has warned American tycoon Stan Kroenke that he faces an uphill task of securing the club in a hostile takeover.
Kroenke needs 30% of shares in a bid to launch a takeover of the club, but Fiszman has indicated that the current Arsenal board have more than enough allies that will never sell their stake to the American.
It is widely suspected that Kroenke would join forces with former director David Dein [14% of Arsenal shares], who was sacked by the board, to take control of the North London club.
Fiszman said: "The board has 45.5% of the shares.
"We also obviously have friends which takes us over 50%.
"They can mount a hostile bid but they're never going to get control of the club.
"The future of the club is in the hands of the board."
