Middesbrough are poised to sign Arsenal French striker Jeremie Aliádíčre this summer.
Gareth Southgate has been in the pursuit of the 24-year-old since January. Aliádíčre is away on a vacation and has not discussed the move.
Southgate tried to sign Aliádíčre earlier in January but failed to do so, and signed South Korean international Dong-Gook Lee instead.
Aliádíčre has played a major role in Arsenal's Carling Cup campaign, but not enough to earn him a first team place.
However, Boro's Mark Viduka has been speculated to leave in the summer to join Newcastle and Portsmouth has been known linking with Ayegbeni Yakubu, Southgate may need a prolific strike force.
With Southgate on a two-week residential course studying for his UEFA A Licence, and club chairman Steve Gibson away on holiday, there was no comment made on the matter to determine whether the deal was confirmed or not.
