Wenger: We showed our fighting spirit

Manager Arsène Wenger hailed Arsenal's fighting spirit after the Gunners ground out a 1-0 victory over a battling Manchester City.

A late Francesc Fabregas goal ensured that maximum points remained in the Emirates Stadium.

Wenger said: "We won in the last seconds at Fulham, we scored a second goal at Prague in the dying moments, we missed a penalty and still won the game here.

"That is a recognition of what is going on in this team and how we are progressing.

"You get strength and confidence when you grow older.

"I am mentally stronger now than when I am 19 or 20.

"Time and experience give you confidence to do something with your talent. They make you realise that you are as good as any other player."
