Ferdinand: Gunners are more clinical this season

West Ham defender Anton Ferdinand says that Arsenal are a more clinical outfit this season, after the Gunners put in a commanding and professional performance to win 1-0 away from home at Upton Park.

Ferdinand said that the performances of midfield pairing Mathieu Flamini and Francesc Fabregas was the key to the Gunners' success.

He said: "Arsenal look more clinical to me than last year.

"They got that vital first goal from Robin van Persie and they were very good at keeping that advantage.

"Cesc Fabregas is already looking great this season but Mathieu Flamini has given them that nasty look that perhaps they lacked.

"Every top team needs one of those battling type players in midfield who can really tackle."

Manager Arsène Wenger also praised Flamini's performances recently, saying that the young Frenchman had a commanding presence in midfield.

It seems that flamini is taking the place of gilberto. Gilberto is a world class player and got great respect for him. But i think his time is near for an exit at arsenal. Like henry, pires, vieira, cygan, ljungberg and bergkamp, his time as come. I personally think that this will be his last year at arsenal. Flamini is young and he is a fighter, he reminds me of a gatuso at ac milan. Great future for him at arsenal and world football

Flamini has improved a great deal and does add an edge to our game, but he needs to control himself just a little and he just needs to keep the yellow cards down in the future, so that we can actually see him play. Good luck to him and Arsenal.

The Flamster has really really stepped up his game. He ought to get a new contract yesterday.

I've always said Flamini is the key to our current form this season. I hope he keeps fighting for balls & Wenger keeps the midfield competition on for anyone that plays to stay on top the game!

Flamini was on his way out, trying to buy out his remaining contract and sat with boss. Wenger said, So, Mathieu, you wanna play regularly eh? Yes boss, he said. Wenger: How am I supposed to choose over Diaby, Denilson and Glberto? By being outstanding in games that I play in said Flamini. Bravo, Mathieu, now that you understand me then I you should stay because if you realise how little Cesc made me sell big Vieira you should do accordingly and everything will be hunky dorry. He never looked back
