Wenger: I got my tactics wrong

Manager Arsène Wenger has admitted that he got his tactics wrong against Manchester United by playing Emmanuel Adebayor as a lone striker in a 4-5-1 system.

However, the Frenchman also said that his tactics were forced on him by the absence of Robin van Persie.

Wenger said: "Sometimes Adebayor was a bit too isolated up there.

"Maybe I could have played Theo Walcott up front, or Eduardo or Niklas Bendnter. But I went for a different approach.

"Without Robin van Persie the balance in the final third was not completely right.

"That's my fault. I'd look at that again.

"In the final third, we dropped a little bit too much off and that took something out of our game.

"The game didn't reach the level in terms of technique that I'd expected it to reach, but it was still an interesting game with contrasting styles."

well this article is a breath of fresh air from the manager. Hopefully we will see more of a partnership upfront from now on. it works, so why fix it.

That's right Arsene, take the pressure off the boys. Clever man.

u r right. 4-5-1 doesn't suit arsenal AT ALL, and please, do not be afraid when playing against our rival next time.

Luckily you notice about that, Mr Arsene

Yeah I agree with Prof. about the 4-5-1 formation. Maybe he would have played more-so Niklas B. upfront together with Ade. Otherwiae the game was good but we deserved 3 points, no doubt!! I thought Hleb was fantastic, don't you think? The bestv dribler in Britain perhaps....

Thats exactly wat happened and it is good that Wenger admits it .... If it were not for that small mistake that Almunia made (y doesn't he learn from one mistake).... mebbe we would have won the match !!!

Arsene wenger should also try and emphasise on the finishing style(thundering shots)especially when at the edge of the box.

It’s time to give Bendnter a decent run of games. Although he may not have Adebayors pace he is technically better in ball control, heading and passing. With another forward either Eduardo or Walcott alongside him. Adebayor hasn’t scored or even looked like scoring for the last 6 games. Almunia is also looking a bit of a worry as well.
