Wenger hails captain Gallas

Manager Arsène Wenger paid tribute to defender William Gallas, who has taken on the captain's mantle and led by example this season with crucial goals against key opposition.

Gallas was once again Arsenal's saviour last night, scoring a crucial goal against his former club to earn all three points for the Gunners.

Wenger said: "He has transformed completely.

"He is a leader and pops up when you need him.

"Arsenal is a special club and it takes a few months to be penerated by the spirit. He has taken it on board and represents how we want to behave."
