Gallas: Revenge wasn't on my mind

Defender and captain William Gallas insists that revenge was not on his mind when Arsenal played Chelsea.

The Frenchman, who moved to Arsenal in a swap deal that involved Arsenal's Ashley Cole, scored the only goal of the game to guarantee his new club their first victory over their London rivals for the first time since 2004.

Gallas said: "For me the more important thing was my players and my team. I didn't think about myself.

"Before I went on the pitch I said to myself 'I have to play well'. It's not revenge. For me it is in the past.

"What they did and what they said is behind me."
