Winterburn: Spurs fear Arsenal

Former Arsenal left-back Nigel Winterburn has said that Tottenham will need to overcome their fear of Arsenal if they are to progress to the Carling Cup final.

Winterburn said: "There was no need to make the draw was there?

"I know a few Spurs fans and they told me before the draw that it had to be Arsenal v Tottenham again.

"It's going to make for a fascinating game. I think Tottenham got a little bit scared last year after they went 2-0 up in the home leg because it's been so long since they have beaten Arsenal.

"Arsenal came back at them, got the away draw and then absolutely annihilated them at home.

"So I think there's a fear factor at Tottenham at the moment and they have got to somehow get a win against Arsenal. They need to get rid of all the history and then they might be able to progress.

"But it will be fascinating because Arsenal will play their second-string Carling Cup team and I don't think Arsène Wenger will use any of his more experienced players, so Tottenham might see that to their advantage.

"The likes of Cesc Fabregas and Robin van Persie were involved in the Carling Cup last year, but I don't see those players being involved this time. Tottenham have got to believe that with a full-strength team they have a chance.

"For the fans this is everything.

"It's all they talk about the week before the game and come Monday morning you'll see one set of supporters happy and the other lot don't turn up to work.

"I think Tottenham's last victory at Arsenal was in 1993 - that shows you how hard it's going to be for them. But eventually they have got to try and break that hoodoo."

If Winterburn thinks that he knows Arsenal or pschology, he should be a shrink- for the under performing Spurs. While he's at it, then he should shade some light on how does Spurs perform poorly with such 'good' players? Also how does a £16.6M player totally flops? How about it shrink Winterburn? If you don't know what is going on at Arsenal, shut tha f@*k up. No wonder you were dis posed off! You don't know Arsènè Wenger.Just enjoy your retirement and enjoy Wenger ball!

Arsenal has the correct base of philosophy to play on. Confidence and ditermination will get them through not only against Tottenham but any team in any capacity. Long live the PROFESSOR.
