Manager Arsène Wenger has revealed that when defender Martin Taylor apologised to him after the match against Birmingham City, he had to rethink his comments and thus retracted them.
Wenger said: "He came to see me after the game and said it was completely accidental.
"I thought about it and said if it was accidental I had to retract my comment.
"We do not want to be a club who is seen to be wanting revenge or anything. We try to play football in a fair way."
The press have also tried to pin Wenger down to being responsible for the death threats that have come Taylor's way, but Wenger reacted strongly to the accusations, quipping that he is to blame for everything in this country.
Wenger added: "Are you sure? Yes, I'm responsible for everything in this country.
"How much unemployment have you? I'm responsible for that as well.
"I am responsible for what I say but I came out and retracted what I said. I didn't want to go overboard. I take that responsibility.
"But people who make death threats have to feel responsible for what they do. It is idiotic and not accepted but I do not want to be responsible for that."

Although Taylor didn't mean to and maybe it wasn't intentionally, Eduardo almost lost his leg. I watched it, and it was very horrible. Taylor deserves to be punished. It just did and it was so fast.
