Lehmann: I'm staying to win trophies

Goalkeeper Jens Lehmann said that he is stayed at Arsenal in order to win more trophies.

The German international had a couple of offers to move back to his home country but turned them down to continue playing in North London, despite being second choice to Manuel Almunia.

Lehmann said: "It [not playing] is very difficult, very hard.

"Sometimes you have to accept it - even after I played a couple of games and was dropped again.

"I was very close [to rejoining Borussia Dortmund]. But I stayed for several reasons.

"My experience from Milan, who I left too early, was one thing, and my family situation - I didn't want to take my kids out of school here.

"And also the belief that I still can win something here and be part of it.

"At Milan, I was injured then I didn't play. Then I made the mistake of changing clubs too early because the national coach, Erik Ribbech, pressurised me a bit.

"He came up and said, 'If you are not playing now I cannot call you up any more'."

620 minutes of clean sheet for Germany, and still Wenger isnt impressed!
He was, is, and will always be, better than Almunia.

i feel very sorry for lehmann ... and in a strange way i feel he is a factor in our current position i feel he should have stayed in the team after the Birmingham game ... there was no reason to leave him out .. at the end of the day he has become part of the reason we may or may not win the league
