Adebayor to be rested

Striker Emmanuel Adebayor is set to be rested by manager Arsène Wenger ahead of today's clash with Bolton Wanderers.

The Gunners are bidding to record their first win in five matches and get their title race back on track.

The Togolese international, who literally went on a goal-scoring spree at the start of the season, has now only scored once in eight games and Wenger has put that down to a number of factors, including fatigue.

Wenger said: "He did not score recently because as a team we have made less chances, and also physically he was a bit jaded because he has played in nearly every single game since the start of the season.

"I believe he has given a lot this year and that he would need a little breather, maybe.

"He played a lot on his own up front and has had to fight very hard. At the moment, to refresh him a bit would do him some good.

"I have [Nicklas] Bendtner there, I have [Robin] van Persie coming back, but Adebayor is an important player in our squad."

Meanwhile, Bolton boss Gary Megson insists they do not have to kick Arsenal off the pitch to beat them today.

Megson said: "Although we have a reputation for being big and physical, there are quite a few players in our team who are not big and not physical.

"So we are not a football team that falls into the category that many people often judge us to be. It's a fallacy.

"We have some physical players and we want them all to compete, but since I have been here we haven't had anybody sent off."

it was a result. the naysayers just feel robbed cos theyd written this game off in advance(again).down to ten men and 2-0 nil down at half time AWAY.then win 2-3.like fergie says.this is gonna go to the wire this season.cos gunners do not roll over and quit.

Good win but now we have to chase the leaders and hope that they go on a worse streak of games than we did. With on 18 points to play for,its gonna need a miracle to win the EPL.We should concentrate on the CL.

A great comeback at a place we do not usually do well. It doesn't matter if Bolton are good or not, to be considered a great team you have to beat teams that play different styles. The Mancs do this consistently, we have to be able to adapt our stye to suit the task ahead. I would love to be proved wrong, but I don't think we will win the title. As long as this season is built on and we become more consistent next season I think the future is very bright.

2-3 what a relief!!!!!!!!!!!!! A faint hope kept alive (and belief returned to the players). Make no mistake this is a massive massive result, to claw back from 0-2 at reebok with 10 men!!! What a pity the tide of good fortune didn't turn a bit sooner. Without getting too exited, we still need 6 wins out of 6 and a slice of luck to claim the title. I am just relieved that we have returned to winning ways just in time for the Liverpool trilogy. Well done lads for an amazing comeback!!!

agree with Lemma-the jury was out on Ade at the start of the season but the guy has worked tirelessly for the cause and in the shadow of TH!!!Any striker who repeatedly scores aagainst the Yids is a hero for me and i didnt see the doubters giving him stick then!Had we had a fit RVP and more lately Eduardo,im sure that a rotation would have kept Ade fresh.I feel for the guy-playing the lone role is hard work and he covers so much of the pitch. We were dead lucky to get the purple patch we did out of him-thank heavens Togo didnt reach the nations cup!!!

Wandera in UG..you are a muppet! Adebayor a menace...if anything, the whole squad has been a menace. The fair thing to say is that this lad has contributed well beyond expectations this season and deserves a part on the back..after all no one scored over 20 goals last season and he already has 23..give this guys some support man, they can only get better
