Van Persie and Adebayor might not be ready for Liverpool

Manager Arsène Wenger has admitted that strike duo Robin van Persie and Emmanuel Adebayor might not be ready for the weekend's clash against Liverpool.

Dutchman van Persie, who had just returned from injury himself, was withdrawn as a precautionary measure on Wednesday but doesn't look like he will be ready for the league clash at the Emirates.

And Togolese striker Emmanuel Adebayor has an ankle problem.

Wenger said: "If you ask for my gut feeling right now I would say no, Robin won't play. At the moment it is 80 per cent no and 20 per cent yes.

"But he has a scan this afternoon and he is better today than he was last night.

"That is positive for a muscle problem. But we'll know much more about it on Friday morning.

"We also have (Emmanuel) Adebayor who has a little ankle problem. We'll see how he is tomorrow. I hope he'll be okay.

"But the time is so short between the games it is very difficult to make a decision the morning after a game.

"You don't know if it is a bruise or a little twist and the first 24 hours doesn't tell you a lot about that."

I never doubted Adebayor's aerial ball ability, like what he scored on Wednesday, when no one was near him. Besides that, he plays average football, can't dribble, can't play balls to a better positioned teammate, he is EPL midtable team striker maybe, definitely not our class. If Eduardo can't be ready in time for next season, then Wenger should get himself really busy in the summer for 2 proven strikers, two wingers who can supply 10-15 goals per season, and one defender. Almunia maybe faster than Lehmann, but he didn't prove he can handle big games this season. We need an experienced goalie too.

Van Persie will never be ready. He is permantly injured. Mr Wenger should be looking for a striker who will be avalible for most of the season. Then we may win a trophy

There is it, at this time Eduardo is needed. We have a lot of injured players. And our next opponents aren't easy of course. This time, some arsenal coaches have to keep their eyes on some good strikers at arsenal reserves team and try to sign them immediaty. Maybe if there is nothing wrong with Eduardo the situation wouldn't be so complicated. Get well soon Eduardo!

Im not Adebayors greatest fan but i do feel he has worked hard for the team this term and its no wonder he is exhausted. What we saw early in the season was enough to ssuggest he is a great goalscorer and he plays a tiring role as lone striker mostly.Had we had a fit RVP and Eduardo,we'd have been able to rotate and maybe he would'nt look quite so jaded right now.We need more depth to our squad-fact-and perhaps then we'd have consolidated what we had achieved when we were 5pts clear. Its a sad fact, but we have to have a bigger squad and more talent in depth to compete with the likes of United.Their season has been every bit as long as ours but they have maintained their strength and drive.I can see where AW is coming from-he has a great nucleus here, but its just not mature enough for this type of marathon.I do hope we will add strength and depth to the squad in the summer and become a major runner next season. So much promise this year, and we are still there with a shout, but the team looks as if it cant wait for the season to end...and it will be a blessed relief to some of our supporters as well.Just hope we can get SOMETHING in the next few months to make all that beautiful football worthwhile.

adebayor is not useless isaac--hes just not on form at the moment---he is a good player who is multidimensional and gives us the opportunity to play the long ball forward sometimes; just like toure often does--also he is always applying pressure on defenders and his off the ball movements distracts defenders--all contributing to the betterment of the team

Arsenal should learn to sort their foolish problems alone. No sympathies at all and Arsenal should take care since i am predicting them losing both.

Why is this happening at the wrong period of the league? If this report is true, that means we only have Walcott & Bendtner upfront? Then we are doomed! I wish we could use this opportunity to introduce Barazite. I've watched him play & he is quite handful. God help us...
