Fabianski: I want to be number one

Goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski has said that he is aiming to be Arsenal's first choice goalkeeper.

Currently, Spaniard Manuel Almunia is the preferred choice to man the goal, ahead of German international Jens Lehmann.

Fabianski, who has been selected to be in goal for the last few games of the season, said: "I am not here just to be the second goalkeeper, I want to be the main goalkeeper.

Manuel (Almunia) and Jens (Lehmann) are fine goalkeepers and we all get on well but I will be fighting to be ahead of them."

I feel Jens Lehmann was treated badly by Wenger as he is clearly the best of all the keepers at Arsenal. Yes he made a brace of errors but they only cost Arsenal two points. Lads like Cech, Reina have made more than two errors all season but their managers retained their faith in them and retained them as number one. But Wenger was harsh on Lehmann who commands his area very well and can organise lads like Toure and Gallas who in several games conceded some soft goals. Almunia lacks that command. In one on ones and ability, Lehmann is still beteer than most keepers in Europe, with maybe, Casillas, Cech, Buffon as the only better keepers than him in Europe. I have supported the Gunners for many years and felt that of all the replacements for David Seaman, he has been the best of the lot. Alminia selection may have had more to do with future but it left a bad taste as Lehammna certainly got a raw deal and rightly felt hard done by the coach's decision. Some of the goals ocnceeded by Almunia would have been saved by Lehmann. Look at how he places his defenders when defending corners and set pieces.

i think lukasz is a good keeper but he most understand that there is time for everything.i think almunia as waited patiently for is time and i think,that is why he is the number one keeper now so lukasz should wait.
