Flamini off?

Manager Arsène Wenger has admitted that he is not overly optimistic on the contract situation with Mathieu Flamini, with reports emerging from Italy that the Frenchman is in Milan for a medical.

Having initially said that Flamini had until the end of April to decide on his future, Wenger extended the deadline till Monday, but it seems to have been to no avail as Flamini has apparently told his team mates that he will play for Milan next season.

Wenger said: "Frankly, I don't know [if he will stay]. But if you ask me was I overall super-confident, I would say no.

"He has an offer on the table which is valid until tomorrow, then we will see. I am not confident, but also not worried. The situation is not in my hands.

"We have done what we had to do, it is now down to him to make a decision. At some stage you have to make a decision and if he goes we have to look at our options.

"We can't wait until July. You could lose players if they come on the market. My ideal solution is that he stays, so I am not happy if he goes - but we've done everything we can."

hahaha im not at all surprised. it was very dirty and very detrimental to the team what he did, and i hope he hasnt tried to convince anyone else to leave.

as for his future, not many have left arsenal and become better players, big a club as milan are, they are going to take some time to get back to the pinaccle of italian football (which is utterly rubbish and on par with league 2). i hope inter win the title for the next 4 years so flamini will be eternal loser. and i hope we meet them in CL again. we will make flamini look old and tired like the rest of ac milan.

I would say we should stop worrying about this guy and look forward to buying a more patriotic and even better replacement for him.b cos of him Gilberto wasn't able to show us the stuff he is made of after his performance last season.I truly believe this guy was never a true Gunner.

we cannot do much about this at least if he goes he goes quickly now and we can look at the options. feel a bit sorry for Gilberto mr loyalty... makes you wonder about players like Flamini 1 ok season and they are off for more money.Gilberto should be Captain next season

So Flamini has gone for the money to Milan the new millenium losers.I am certain that Arsene will have a trick up his sleeve and a replacement on hand or lined up.Good luck to MF but he will grieve if we meet Milan in th CL and put them out.

All that cash !Can't say I blame the Flame. How much money do you need. Who are Milan ? All the best Flame,You gave us great service. Shame your bank balance is going up and your career will probably go down. Italian league is past its best.

he waits three years for a chance to play, almost leaves last summer but Wenger told him to stay because he will play and then is one of the best players in the league this season and leaves. something wrong with his brain if he thinks he is better off anywhere else. oh well, best of luck to you and thanks for everything this season and in the CL run in 2006. never said a bad word about this club and never given less then 110%

he is not off yet, still unconfirmed, no news, but i must say it is not looking good. However, it appears Wenger will buy a replacement soon. Gareth Barry? Michael Johnson? Zdravko Kuzmanovic? or what about Miguel Veloso?

its sad to see the guy leave,he was fantastic for the whole season, but rem. we were ready to let him go last season,so let him leave early so that the manager can have ample time to think of his replacement,i will now hate him every time i hear him shine,i have a question though,WHY IS IT SO DIFFICULT TO HAVE MOST ARSENAL PLAYERS TO BE ROYAL LIKE THE WAY RIO OR TERRY OR GIGGS OR GERALD ARE TO THIER CLUBS,JUST ASKING?

He is a crucial player to the squad and will be a big lose if he goes elsewhere.

Can I just say that I am really gutted we are losing a player of Flamini's quality. His partnerhip with Cesc was really promising. What is seemingly likely is that we are going to lose Flamini, Gilebrto and Diarra (3 defensive midfielders) all in one season! Jean Makoun of Lille or Toulalan of Lyon must come in as they are ready made replacements.

I cant believe what flamini is doing and leaving arsenal, just for money he is leaving the club he stated he wanted to stay for, i just cant believe his leaving which seems very likely he is ungrateful, arsenal made him what he is today!

There´s pictures of Flamini in Milano on gazzetta.it, he´s definately off. Too bad, but better him than Cesc, Hleb or Adebayor.
