Flamini moves to Milan

Midfielder Mathieu Flamini has completed his switch to Italian club AC Milan, saying that he was very happy with the move.

The Frenchman had signed a four-year contract worth over £2.7 million a year.

He said: "I am extremely happy. Thanks a million."

Milan chief Ariedo Braida added: "I'm not surprised by his talent and I assume several teams would have wanted his services.

"Although no negotiations are ever easy, it wasn't difficult to convince Flamini to join Milan.

"Flamini has made a choice as his contract with Arsenal is coming to an end and we are delighted he has chosen Milan.

"He is a very good player and he can offer a lot to the team."

Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger admitted that the club had done all they could to keep Flamini, but one must wonder how his contract was allowed to be run down into its final year in the first place?

i think over the next few years we will lose most of our top players we cannot compete with the wages we will just be a breeding ground for up and coming talent

Let him go, he doesn't know how to be grateful. Without AW, he'd probably right now just play for mediocres. When he came from Marseille he was just nobody.
Hope Hleb and Bert stay. Denilson, Bert and maybe Fran for CC can fill in Mathieu boots. If 7 from Clichy, Sagna, Cesc, Hleb, Rosicky, Kolo, Ade, RvP and Edu can stay on form together and not injured at same time, we have more to offer than Manure.
Maybe buying 1 more experienced middle-age CB is sufficient.

Ohh the player maligned as a 'headless chicken' until last year has got all us arsenal fans baying for wenger's blood cause he let him go :)
But really one can only stare agape at wenger's stubborness. Does he have to buy player with his own money??
One of our greatest strength was the age of our team cause of which they could only get better so this has dug a bigg fat hole in that. Really its high time wenger stopped looking at the future at brought us some result right now and buy someone big as confirmation to that

There isnt a player out there thats 24, has that much commitment, heart and talent that could possibly replace him, what a shame he has left us.

I have mixed feelings about Flamini leaving. My feeling is that he has already been replaced by a younger player, or Arsenal would have been more argessive in signing him. Could we see Theo move into that spot?

How many more top players will leave before Wenger realises that things have got to change. So many top players have come and gone through the Arsenal over the last few years when most other teams keep theirs.
Arsene either has something up his sleeve that will be magical or he has made a huge mistake in Flaminis departure, being a life long gooner i am opting for the first.
Mr Wenger prove all the critics wrong and tell us what you have up that sleeve

This deeply hurts me that flamini has decided to leave Arsenal he is a great asset to our team i hope wenger learns from his mistake

One must wonder how he was allowed to run his contract down? so Your telling me, that up until this year, the one being his last year of his contract, you thought getting flamini to sign was of major importance.

We can only ask : why? Why sometimes money is much more important than team as a family or really amazing style.
Hleb is so close to going, too :(

Its very sad to see Flamini joining the exodus train. the array of which big hopes were being carried by the gunners that this team would stick together looking at the amazingly wonderful and explicit performance the team put up this season with the soldier man(Flamini), Fabregas and the likes of Hleb, Toure, Sagna, clichy just to mention a few of the youngsters who form a very solid squad. Its most arguable and envious of the fact that Arsenal possesses the youngest team and that alone amazes people in a wonderland of our superb performances. Arsenalfans wish Flamini all the best, But Arsene Wenger will have to cautious and mindful of his words, the reason why Flamini's contract could not be sealed a very long time go until now-this time around that the contract got expired b4 wenger tries some talks, he should me very mindful of the wage structure he is talking about, bcos we cannot afford to loose the big guns with great future to other clubs whiles their services could still help us, the team is not for one man and wenger should know that we all want the best for arsenal, we trust in Arsene Wenger but he has to know that we also want the best, he should as such put his mind on the table for us all to weigh and stop the pursuit of his saying that what we say ten years ago still remains like that. he is never God. Things keep on changing dude, he should behave as a learned person as such in that quest. Thanx

I think it's a shame that he is already leaving arseanl. he was a part of the team that has improved a lot since last year. He would have been better of staying with this young and talented squad.

Thats what i have been saying jonathan. Wenger has to take responsibility. Now the independent say Helb wants out and they were right about flam. Mr. Wenger, i know your and economist but saying we are 380 million in debt and must keep a wage structure is clearly crazy. How can we compete and how can you justify charging what arsenal do for entry into emerites if there,s no investment in the team!. I'm pissed off.

He will go just like the rest who have left, 'No Where!' Arsenal and Arsene have made so many players careers, they then have this sudden ego trip and think they are the worlds best. Well good like getting in the Milan team Mathieu!

Well it will be a shame to see Flamini go because i think he was a very good midfield player. I think that there was no need for him to move because this season he has finally broken into the first team and shown how good he is and just as he is beginning to show his quality on the pitch he has decided to go to Milan, thats his choice and good luck to him but i think he should have stayed with Arsenal.

This is jut rediculous. Why cant this team keep its players? It is going to faast become a training academy for the larger teams in Europe that are serious challengers for the CL title. Without trophies and with a bad salary scale its no wonder players do not stay long. Even Cesc, Adebayo and Walcott have no reason to stay if he cannot win some titles.

Very disappointing. Wenger seems to forget our big defeat to Spurs and Man U when Gilberto replaced Flamini. I expect Arsenal will keep on fighting for third place in the league until they adjust the stupid salary stucture. Why players have to earn less in Arsenal? Is Arsenal a big club?
