Club confirm Flamini departure

Arsenal Football Club have confirmed the departure of midfielder Mathieu Flamini.

The 24-year-old Frenchman turned down numerous contract offers from Arsenal and chose a lucrative big-money move to Italian club AC Milan.

A statement from the club read: "Arsenal can confirm that Mathieu Flamini will join Italian Serie A side AC Milan on July 1, 2008 on a free transfer.

"Everyone at Arsenal Football Club wishes Mathieu the best of luck for the future."

AC Milan chief Ariedo Braida was delighted with the capture of Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini.

He said: "I can say that Flamini was a player Carlo Ancelotti really wanted and Milan is like a family, where decisions are made jointly," director Braida enthused.

"Flamini isn't an unknown player, just as Didier Drogba isn't. I assume that several teams would have wanted him because his talent is well known.

"Although negotiations are never easy, it wasn't hard to convince Flamini to join Milan.

"We are delighted that Mathieu has chosen Milan. He is a very good player and can offer a lot to the team."

All of you mockiing Flamini oughta put a sock in it. He's a great player and he gave Arsenal EVERYTHING he had, scoring matchwinners or assisting them many times. Without him we'd have crumbled.

If a player who gives his all gets nothing back, what else is he to do??? I say we thank him and respect his efforts and commitment.

This is completely ridiculous. The man gave everything he had this season. It is disrespectful to talk of him like this. He has every right to leave for any club he wishes to. I wish him all the best

Let him go, Thierry went now he wants to come back,Viera went he is succesfull as he was at Arsenal, he is not serious he was not saying the truth that the reason why, he was delaying in signing on the other hand he was saying he was saying he loves Arsenal. He has to know that he improved at Arsenal another one would come coz Arsene is there to make the finish product. As Viera, Flamini, Thierry, others will improve.

After Wenger giving him so many chances to improve his game, thus increase his market value, he then turned his back to Arsenal. What a greedy garbage player! Look at his face in the picture taken at a Milan restaurant on sunday.

As an Arsenal and AC Milan fan I do not like this move. I don't like it as an Arsenal fan b/c Flams sold Wenger out after Wenger gave him his chance. As a Milan fan I do not like it because Flams is after the $$$$ and not the club. He will leave Milan before his contract is up for more $$, especially if he is not starting.

Flamini obviously just wants money and not to play football for the only team that actually plays attractive football
