Manager Arsène Wenger said that he was not looking to make wholesale changes to the squad, but just add to its already strong foundations for next season.
The Frenchman highlighted the fact that the Gunners were unbeaten at home in the league, and that record in itself was something to be proud of as it was only the second time in the history of the club that it's happened.
Wenger said: "It doesn't look like we have no team and we have to build a team.
"We were unbeaten at home and that is only the second time in the history of the club. We have done that with young players who will be better next season.
"If we are winners we come back and do it and that is what I expect from my team.
"I think the big core of the team is ready to come back and fight, and that all of them are determined to come back and win.
"Like every big disappointment you have in life you go through a period where you have to swallow and digest it and think 'Where do I go from here? Do I feel sorry for myself or do I fight and do something different?'
"After a while the players come together and there is a good togetherness in the squad.
"I feel they have created something special and not to take advantage of that would be criminal for me."

Well if the squad had been full of class players this season and still only managed to get 3rd i'd seriously chuck whatever i own with Arsenal FC imprinted on it down the chute. You've created a miracle this season Mr Wenger. And i salute you. On the other hand i'd agree with some fellow gooners that we need reinforcements. I stand with those who say fatigue and injuries killed our season.

All this talk about creative midfielders and central defenders is fine, but with only Abedayor and Bentner effectively fit for next year, Wenger definitely needs another striker.

Words are cheap Mr Wenger. Put your money where your mouth is. Of course you could go and buy a whole new team next week but how good would they be. Flamini is gone and if Hleb goes then you will practically be rebuilding the whole team, especially with our fragile defence who can't handle the long-ball our hang on to leads in important games.
Only one Champions league semi-final (and final in the same year) in twelve years is SH*T Mr Wenger.
