Wenger: We were consistent enough

Manager Arsène Wenger has said that he's happy with the level of quality and consistency shown by his young squad.

He was also adamant that his young squad have done enough to win the championship in most seasons, but that Manchester United and Chelsea have raised the bar this season.

The top two finished on 87 and 85 points respectively.

Wenger said: "You have to be reasonable. When you get 83 points and you call that failure, what would the other teams say?

"I feel quality-wise we have been remarkable the whole season. I have never had a team that has consistently produced quality games like this team.

"We lost a 100 metres race by a fraction of a second. We were on the same line and somebody has put their chest in front of us just at the end.

"It doesn't mean we have not made a good 100m. To have a great 100m, you need three or four who compete for the final place.

"This year, the Premier League, for maybe the first time in the last four or five years, was exciting until the last day of the season, and we have contributed to that.

""Overall I think we have been consistent, we have 83 points and 83 points has won the championship for many years but this year unfortunately not.

"We are disappointed we did not win the championship but as well we must say it was great consistency.

"I think we are the second team, away from home for winning, and we are the second team at home, with a number of wins, so we have been consistent.

"But we have just lacked a little bit of fraction that made the difference this year, and you could see there was very little difference between the top three teams."

Arsenal rule but were not consistant cause we cant beat teams ike Birmingham and aston villa

Yes, everything was so tight. There is no single reason we lost. A cumulative of things resulted in the slight fraction. If we only have won at Old Trafford. If only Gallas wasn't hand-balled, lot of ifs, and that explains the tight margin.
