Wenger reveals plans for Carlos Vela

Wenger reveals plans for Carlos Vela

By Jonathan Chong on Friday, May 16, 2008

Manager Arsène Wenger has revealed his plans for Mexican midfielder Carlos Vela, who has been on-loan to Spanish side Osasuna for the most part of this Arsenal career.

That has not been down to a lack of ability, it's because the club have not got a work permit for Vela to ply his trade in England.

Wenger said: "We have applied for a work permit for him now.

"And he will be involved with the first team next season.

"He has played the whole season at Osasuna on the left wing and he had to work hard there.

"But for me it is not his position, he is a central striker, an Eduardo type."

carlos vela return will be great but vela needs to work on his goal scoring form for next season because nikolas beneter had the same problem last season

i think wenger should buy better and more-experienced players.otherwise arsenal has the capability to aquire silver-ware.

Carlos is a great guy, full of talent and thats want Arsenal needs to get to the silverware and GO on Arsene bring the guy in camp and give him the chance to prove he is worth the arsenal first team shirt. Bring also Ben Arfa to the squad .

I'm worried that financial constraints are encouraging Wenger to make a similar mistake as he did last year. And that is to rely too heavily on a relatively inexperienced strike force, and not plan sufficiently for injury contingencies. Vela and Bendtner are still learning their trade. With VP likely to pick up further injuries and Eduardo essentially a passenger we won't be able to match Manchester United, Liverpool or Chelsea in this area. We need someone of the calibre of Huntelaar, Villa or Gomez. If not I feel we'll be in a not dissimilar position next year.

i have seen a lot of games involving carlos vela, and i am not convinced that he is a front man and neither do i feel that we need another striker. we are short of goal scoring wingers and this is exactly what vela is. an undoubted talent and all hopes he gets his permit.
