Senderos staying with Arsenal

Senderos staying with Arsenal

By Jonathan Chong on Sunday, May 25, 2008

Swiss defender Philippe Senderos has said that he will stay with Arsenal for next season, and has no plans to leave the club any time soon.

The central defender has a contract that runs till 2010.

Senderos highlighted the fact that his own experience has improved and he is on the brink of breaking into the first team.

He said: "I am under contract with Arsenal until 2010 and there is no reason why I should not honour it.

"I have taken part in over 30 matches this season. I've played some big games in the Champions League and gained in experience.

"There is nothing in my record to make me blush. The reports that I had a nervous breakdown after the Liverpool game are false.

"I simply accepted the blame for their first goal.

"I was then the victim of the manager's selections."

Meanwhile, the English FA have targeted Arsenal medical staff Gary Lewin and Ian Beasley (club doctor) in a bid to strengthen their own medical personnel.

Seems that you missed the game versus Milan?
People like you are just looking at his mistakes, yes he made mistakes but he also had very good games which nobody is talking about. He now has to stay focus and regain his form for the Euro 08 and the next season.

Stick with it Phillipe, when you have been out of the team you always come back, in your face form. Happy to hear you are staying - keep working out & prepare for when we need you.

I believe Phil will have a great Euro 08 and many people will consider again if they want him out of the team.

You lot are talking shit I can not understand why are you blaming him so much? He saved our skin so many times season just gone. Whem Toure was away playing ANC he did really well for us it is only the fact when he does not have a constant playing time when he doeas wrong he is a waste of time. Now you people tell me how many times did he save us from conceding?

we do not need mediocrity again, if we stick to the likes of senderos, gallas, and hleb we are bound for another trophyless season, albeit sad to say. we need hleb to move to barca and yaya toure to comein as part of the deal. senderos can move on for free, or dashed to one of the new premierleague clubs, say hull or stoke city. gallas could remain on the bench and say micah richards in or company. that big head adebayor thinks hez made, sorry to say hez not even close to it wont mind sending him off to barca for say 30mil, as we have always robbed barca in the past. mario gomesz, frey as keeper and we are good to go. please arsene sign its a test of our ambitions as a club.

I have sympathy for the lad but i just wish he could be consistent in his performance.
Kind of remind me of Titus Bramble you know physically strong kind of pacy but prone to error.
Cannot afford that at a top 4 premier league club.
But I think he could come from bench or cover injuries througout season.
I will not forget his performance against milan at the san siro and his performance when campbell was injured during 2005-2006 season he was marvellous

When he came to Arsenal he was coveted by Barcelona Madrid and other clubs. In his first year he was fantastic. But since then it has been downhill. too bad he is going to stay

Surely we are looking to increase the squad and what we need is another signing of a top defender and leave him for cover and the Carling Cup etc. He has made mistakes but has also had some great games and is at least 100% commited to the cause

I cant understand Wenger's loyalty to Senderos, the man's a donkey in defence. I hope I'm wrong.

How can the players around Senderos have confidence in a player who loks to have no confidence in himself.
