Striker Eduardo da Silva is optimistic about returning in time for the 2008/09 season kick-off.
The Croatian international is currently undergoing rehabiliation in his home country of Brazil and a video posted to the Internet shows Eduardo running in a gym and kicking a ball.
Eduardo suffered a broken leg injury in the match against Birmingham City last season.
He said: "I am returning to Europe from Brazil at the beginning of August, perhaps even the end of July.
"Doctors tell me by then I will be fully recovered and able to play football again. I hope so too.
"I'm feeling well and my rehabilitation is going better than I would ever have hoped."

Eduardo is my favourite player, not just because I'm from Croatia, but I think he's really got something special! We'll miss you at EURO Dudu, get well soon, and we'll certainly kick ass in 2010, at the World Championship!
You will show Arsenal and the whole world what you can do the following season!

I'm very much convinced that, were he not to get injured, we could get the needed goals (scored by himself) and win both the Premier and Champions league. It pained a lot to miss his service at that crucial stage. Welcome back Edu, hoping to see you pick from where you left!

This is some incredible news,I just can't hide my joy to read this.Having Edu back will be an incredible boost. However,I wouldn't like Arsenal to rush him just as with RVP.We can't make the same mistake again. If he can be avalaible by November(at least) that would be great...We are with you Edu...

I'm not just saying this because he's an Arsenal man, but Eduardo's an incredibly strong person, mentally. Of course we saw glimpses of that in his finishing but this ordeal has portrayed his great mental strength.

is this really true? what a boost that will give everyone associated with arsenal. it means we will start the season with van persie, vela, adebayor, nicklas bendtner, eduardo= 6 strikers. wow! oh that is if a certain RVP manages to stay fit during the course of euro 2008. wont put my house on that.

Great! Now we can sell Rosicky & Bendtner. Buy Nasri, Gomes for Almunia, and a midfielder and a experienced defender and we will win it.. :D

Yeah, Dudu is a great fighter, we've seen it on the pitch as well. He'll return as early as nobody would have expected. And he'll be an Arsenal legend. Go Gooners!

This guy is very good and i think it is because of eduardo's injury that we lost the Champions league and premiership.
