Defender Alexandre Song has agreed a new long-term contract, according to an official statement released by Arsenal Football Club.
Song, who had initially joined on a season-long loan from French club Bastia in 2005, impressed manager Arsène Wenger enough for the Gunners boss to sign him permanently in 2006.
He impressed greatly during a loan spell with Charlton Athletic in the 2006/07 season, before returning to the club last season, and making some appearances for the first team in the final few games of the season.
Song has also won six caps for Cameroon.

It is a welcome development. A player with sound mind and great attitude towards the game. He sure have the physique and strength to play a holding role in the midfield and not a centre back.
