Defender Kolo Touré claims that the squad have learned their lesson after taking their eye off the ball during the final few weeks of the season.
The Gunners were leading the Premiership for most of the campaign but their challenge eventually fell away and they ended up finishing third.
It is a surprising and astonishing admission from a player whom many Arsenal fans repute to be the one they can count on to show true desire and professionalism to win.
Especially after Touré was also part of the 2002/03 squad, who similarly led the Premiership until the last few weeks of the campaign.
Touré said: "We know we have to do something because this season has been really strange for us.
"We started it really well but we had some bad luck at the end of the season.
"We did not have the same desire and focus at the end and that's what we have to change next season."

& on that note, why not give Kolo the Captains armband, he seems to have the most realistic and inspirational insight into where Arsenal should be

Kolo Toure is one of the few Arsenal players that always show 100% commitment to the team. You could tell from his countenance how he hated Arsenal losing. But truth be told, Kolo was totally exhausted after consistently playing every Arsenal games for about 4 seasons without a breather. That`s why we needed another good centre back to cover up when fatigue or better still lost of focus sets in.
