AC Milan chief Silvio Berlusconi has admitted that his club's hopes of signing Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor is slim.
The Gunners have told the Italian giants that the striker is not for sale, and even Milan's tentative offering price of £32 million was not enough to persuade manager Arsène Wenger of selling the Togolese international.
A club statement said: "For the moment we don't intend to open negotiations for the sale of Emmanuel Adebayor."
This led Berlusconi to admit defeat in the deal, saying: "Will we sign Adebayor? I don't know, he's very expensive."
Meanwhile, Massimo Oddo has backed Milan to sign at least one top-class Premiership striker this season, and he reckons it could either be Didier Drogba or Emmanuel Adebayor.
Oddo said: "It's hard to choose between the two.
"We speak of course of two great players and their signing would represent an added value for Milan.
"The choice will be up to the coach, the two attackers are different because one is more mobile, while the other is more powerful."

Adebayor does not have power on his shot and enough composure. Certainly has other skills like ball keeping, Short passing, getting into positions. Its not that he cant get into great positions but that he misses from great positions. If he learns to put power behind a shot from Rosicky and van persie, he could be deadly. he misses a lot but he improved and should do so again. this season he didnt look like a 30 goal player but next season he will. let's top being critical because he choked this season. 32m is a fair price though.

1 second you, mike.arsenal needs a turn-over, they need some match-winners n adebayor is certainly not one of them. 32 million is certainly too much for him n wenger cud get some prolific striker.

I agree with Mike - Sell Adebayor. If it was Villa or Et'oo in Ade's scoring position/chances, either one would have bagged more than 45 goals! Ade is average in dribbling, shooting, composure and finishing (including heading). As one observer once told me, Ade's legs are too long/tall to be able to control the ball. I think Milan is crazy to want to pay 32m for him - AW should sell him right now. We have Vela, RVP, Eduardo and buy one heck of a striker for 16m. I think we give too much credit to playes like Ade and Fabregas - totally overated... they miss too many opportunities and are not consistent enough. WE need good finishers...

yes he scored well last season but the sport light turned the other side he missed quite alot more, arsenal needs a clinical finisher especially in big games where chances come rare. Adebayor lacks that killer instinct which arsenal VERY DESPERATELY needs to clinch any of this cups. get a Villa, Etoo etc or bring back Henry.

Since Milan wouldn`t sell Kaka at whatever price money, why should they expect us to sell Adebayor. Though am not entirely pleased with Ade`s striking ability, but who says we can`t have both Ade and Villa at Arsenal?

I totally agree with Mike. Even though he scored a hat full last season, it was only becasue he was give so many chances by the rest of the team. When the chips were down and we needed him to score, he didn't. There is no way he is worth £32 million. If we get offered that, take it and as Mike says, buy a true top level replacement.

Wenger won't sell Ade unless he knows for sure that we will get a David Villa or the like.

You could offer £50m for him Silver and we'll still tell you to go forth and multiply.

He scored a bag of goals last season, including some real crackers, but having watched virtually all our games last season I don't think Adebayor is good enough. His first touch is lamentable, he lacks pace, slows down the game and misses a lot more than he converts. Sadly he doesn't measure up to the legacy of of Smith, Wright, Anelka, Bergkamp and Henry. If we can get 32 million for him, for Gods sake take it and buy a truly top level replacement - Eto'o/Villa/Benzema, or my preference Huntelaar.
