Adebayor wants Arsenal commitment

Adebayor wants Arsenal commitment

By Jonathan Chong on Thursday, July 3, 2008

The agent of striker Emmanuel Adebayor has asked that the club demonstrate that they want to keep hold of their top scorer last season, saying that Adebayor is not one who would move for money.

Didn't the club demonstrate this by rejecting an approach from Italian club AC Milan?

Stephane Courbis said: "It is vital that Arsenal show their motivation to keep him.

"There has been a love story between Adebayor and Arsenal and his relationship with Arsène Wenger is based on trust and respect.

"If this was a money problem, then he would have asked to leave. He is a man of heart, not of money. He is not greedy."

Meanwhile, Milan have ended their interest in Adebayor after claiming that Arsenal's asking price was too high.

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani said: "The request for £35.8m by Arsenal is an impossible request."

i think we should keep adebayor because it will be an exampleto allour otherplayers tht they cant just walk out when they want.
also adebayor may have missed ALOT of chances but he is only young and he will get better and may score 30EPL goals.
also from past experience if we do sell him were not likely to get a huntleear or villa and even if we did it would be a step backwards because they may have 2 adapt and also they play differently to adebayor so we wont be able to use his hold-up play which has worked wonders for us.

Adebayor should remain in arsenal and try to improve on his goal scoring chances. If he does it he will be better in this new season. What arsenal needs are good defenders that can stand any pressure dis coming season so take note.

I believe Adebayor is completely foolish asking Arsenal To pay him like Thierry after The great 14 spent over 5years of consistent goal scoring football to earn over 100000 pounds per week.playing around with one of the best passers of football in Fabrepass,Hleb& rosicky yet he could only score 24 goals in the EPL,6 against 1 relegated derby county!Wenger is traditional to not keeping players that are no more interested in Arsenal such as the Anelkas'! He should pay for David Villa who is more willing mentally to play for Arsenal or Santa Cruz and not Martins! Martins shakara don too much...Go for it Wenger, hope you're listening!

All you guys say that Wegner made him the player that he is today and he can do that with an other player as well, but there's also the time factor that comes in the picture. Ade is well, stupid, honestly, Wegner can coach some one to fit into Ade's shoes and then kick him out.

i would say sell him his concentration is now lost the only thing adebayor can think of now is where he will play next season between barca and milan we should cash in on his great flukish season and spend money on the likes of dimitar berbatov or roque santa cruz both very capable strikers who have been doin it a lil bit longer than than adebayor

isn't it amusing that he keep saying he is not greedy while keep asking for a pay rise the same time?

He seem to forget he have a under average 2006-07 season before he hit a great 2007-08 form.

With no guarantee he can consistently hit same form he is clearly asking for too much

I think it is not the easiest thing to decide whether Arsenal should sell Adebayor for 30million pounds. I think Arsenal can sell Adebayor if he can buy two strikers ( santa cruz and martin or david villa or a good midfielder). I think santa cruz will be a better striker than adebayor very shortly. but problem is that if Arsenal cannot score, people will say that they should not sell adebayor. I think Arsenal should buy a world class mid field and tall CB.

In as much as i like Seyi Adebayor, the attitude he has put up recently makes me believe he feels he is now a football super star in the mould of Ronaldo and Ronaldinho (both of Brazil)or probably T.Henry! I urge AW let him leave and cash in for £34 million (to Barcelona)before he becomes an embarrasment and an odd ball in the squad. Adieu! Ade.

Personally I think Ade DOES deserve a pay rise but he has gone about it in completely the wrong way by trying to user the gutter press to do all the talking for him. If all is to be believed Arsenal have rewarded him for the better than expected goal return he gave us last season and I think there estimation is just about right (circa 45k a week sterling). I'm pretty certain it would have included further performance based incentives.

Ade has to calm down and realise that one season doesn't make the player.....and just get on with playing the football that he claims to love!!

i think its time for Arsenal to let the likes of adebayor go ...his head has been turned now anyway .. and its likely he will not have the same season as last season..Wenger has made him what he is ...so here is another one who apparently loves the club so much...as long as Arsenal pay him massive wages...that he simply does Not deserve..these players are now turning us into a bit of a farce... flamini helb adebayor ..no loyalty at all it is really becoming very very sad ..LET HIM GO >>>we can do better.

Decent strikers would provide similar goal totals with the service they're provided with at Arsenal. LET HIM GO! 30 MILLION FOR HIM SHOULD BE A CRIME!

If Adebayor doesn't do well this season, It's going to tear the fans apart. If he's making all of this for a publicity stunt, we are better off without him. I'm still banking on a good season for V. Persie.

This agent must be completely brainless!! If it's not about the money then the player should say he is staying, simple. Adebayor was AFC's highest goal scorer last season, yes! But can he do it consecutively for 4 years? that is the question!! This whole saga has the agents name written all over it and it stinks; he is just looking for a big pay day & is using Adebayor to get it. Despite what people say about Adebayor i think he brings something to the squad,i mean he only had his 1st major run in the team last season and for me he outclassed Rooney whom many rate (i think Rooney is over rated by the way.

If Adebayor wants more money he has to prove himself
& if he feels he has grown bigger than his boots he might as well head for the Emirates exit door for no one holds the mighty gunners to ransome;i'd rather go without silverware than see him get 100,000 to 120,000/week. Adebayor you have to earn your worth before you beat your chest and call yourself THE man.

Enough is enough we dont need this greedy , arrogant player in our team anymore , wenger made him a good football player and wenger is ready to make from other an excellent striker my only message to Mr.Wenger is too directly for a wonderful striker , a striker who's better than adebayor this magnificient striker is Huntelaar who wants to leave ajax for 25 million euro so my hope is to see him wearing Arsenal kit next season.

we have shown our desire to keep adebayor by rejecting offers from ac milan and barcelona. also Arsene Wenger(the boss) has stated tht adebayor is staying at arsenal...well wenger wouldnt miss out on a huge transfer fee if he didnt like adebayor would he lol.
we have proved already, so if he doesnt want more money then wot does he want a pat on the back!!!???
i think he wants more money but is lying here too keep the fans favour because he knows he may stay.
and does a striker who scored 24 EPL goals 6 againsts derby take those away its only 18 and thts not worth £120,000+ a week contract is it? henry had proven himself for many years before he got this kind of money.

If Ade can do it for a second season and convert a few more of the shockers he missed last season then maybe offer him a payrise. This will give him some parity with the higher earners at the club and no doubt stroke his agent inflated ego. Afterall what's the point of signing a new contract every summer!

For me Ade was great in some games and somewhat missing in others, much like Henry towards the end- however Henry would have flash of brilliance and change things in the 80th minute.

I think it's a shame that Ade's stock has fallen so greatly with the fans without kicking a ball in anger. If he were to look at catalogue of statements from him and his angent in various publications (some twisted admittedly) surely he would see what a foolish contradiction he is now percieved as.

Lets hope he wisens up, stops listening to hype/agent and possibly his mate Henry and returns to pre season as the 'Man of Heart' he claims to be.

In love with Arsenal and the fans??? Well prove it and give us 30+ in 08-09...

I think it is a mistake not to have sold Ade. A price of GBP30Million would have done the deal and i bet you that price is worth more than 3 Ades. A player that converts less than 20% of his chances is not the kind that can win trophies for the club. Off you go traitor!!!!!

He had a pay rise last season which demonstrated Arseanals appreciation of him. Do the same again this season and score 30+ goals then he may deserve a pay rise? If he move to Barcelona or Milan, trust me in 6 months he'll become a squad player, sitting on the bench week in week out. Wenger made him the player he is now, show some loyalty to the club.

It looks like Arsenal would have sold him if Milan had agreed to pay. That's not a good signal to send to a player who obviously wants to stay and has contributed so much to the team in the last campaign.
Except this is not true, which I doubt, I don't expect Ade to commit himself to Arsenal to the level that he could have, and I foresee him leaving in 2yrs max. And what a shame it will be.
