Hleb burns his bridges

Winger Alexander Hleb has all but burned his bridges with the club.

In the latest outburst, the Belarus international claims that he wasn't happy with his position in the team last season, and also says that midfielder Francesc Fabregas was selfish with shooting opportunities.

Hleb said: "When we get scoring opportunities, Fabregas is much more selfish than me. Given a chance to shoot, he always goes for it — unlike me.

"My view of how I should be playing didn't coincide with the manager's.

"I told him last season I wanted to leave and think he was quite upset about it.

"But ask him. It may turn out he`s happy to see me go. I don`t know where I`ll be next season but I`d prefer Barcelona.

"It is being negotiated and, hopefully, will be decided soon."

Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood also revealed that Hleb would most likely leave the club, saying that the number 13 has made it quite clear that he is seeking to move away from the Emirates Stadium.

He added: "Hleb has made it clear he wants to go.

"I think maybe he will go."

He's played 1/2 a season of decent football in 3 seasons! Loads of ability, looks great on the highlights but produces very little if you watch him every week. Would love to sell him, and any club that buys him has not done their homework. The bloke needs a serious reality check if he thinks he has been a success. Someone needs to explain to him that he was bought as a replacement for Pires! Compare the stats on the 2 players and make an argument for Hleb!

I think Arsenal should sell Hleb for around £15M and replace him with Samir Nasri. Arsenal should also replace Flamini with either Yaya Toure or Bocundji Ca. They are both similar to Patrick Vieira. Aaron Ramsey is too inexperienced to start already. I also think if Emmanuel Adebayor goes to AC Milan or Barcelona for £35M then they should replace him with Samuel Eto'o or Andrei Arshavin. Although Theo Walcott is now the No.14 I still don't think that he can fill the void which would be left by Adebayor. If Adebayor leaves Arsenal they should get a striker anyway because of the inexperienced Theo Walcott and Nicklas Bendtner, the injury prone Robin van Persie and Eduardo who I don't think will play as well as he was playing before he broke his leg.

Hleb has taken this too far and is clearly unhappy. Sell him, finish off nasri deal and use the extra money to add an extra defender (walcott or van persie is worth a try starting in the wing)

If the Belarusian wants to go...WENGER PLEASE LET HIM GO...Nasri, David Silva and others are out there,u could bid and get them, He shldnt be comparing himself with Cesc, I wonder wat he will say of Xavi and Iniesta wen he gets to Barca, he seems not to be happy here, ARSENAL needs loyal, deligent and unselfish players....not Club prostitutes and greedy uncorperative team mates.. Farewell HLEB ...but remember u owe Wenger a lot.

Hleb is a good player(talented) but lacks crossing and will 2 score goals which makes a midfeilder more leathel. If he doesn't want 2 stay we should sell him and get Nasri&An English winger @ chelsea with ability(2 give no 10)

Hleb has done an incredible job and if he feels its his high time to quit then he must remember that as he leaves others are eyeing for such opportunity.failure comes by choice

We could use the funds, say GBP40m, raised by selling Adebayor and Hleb, to get Huntlaar, Santa Cruz, and David Silva. That will be enough for next season. We have plenty attacking options in RVP/Huntlaar(Cruz), Edu/Bendtner, Vela/Walcott, and we have covers for Flamini in Diaby and Song too, the only thing we should still strengthen is defense. Either a worldclass goalie or a CB will do.

Hleb wanting to leave doesnt come as a surprise to me neither will adebayor's depature be unbelievable. Unfortunately for them, they make the mistake of jumping to where the money is and early retirement lurking around the corner. Look at henry and viera, they got to the climax of their carrer in Arsenal and instead of staying to become legends and an inspiration to the younger ones they decided to become substitutes that finally ruined their carrers. If hleb wants to leave, he should leave. But if it's really true that he said all those things about Fabregas, then i think he's desperation for attention will make him run away from barca and any other club just like he's doing right now.

I've said it before that Hleb can leave. We won;t miss him much. We have cover for his role. If we get Nasri, good. If not, we're still in good stead. The player we should do everything to keep happy is Cesc. Cesc is happy to play anywhere for the good of the team. That's the spirit Arsenal needs. Flamster was like that once when he played left back, right back, wings, centre, name it, until he got big headed. He's gonna get his for sure.
The team is more important than the individual player. And there is another generation of players waiting to be given a chance. Merida, Barazite, Gibbs, Randall, Lansbury... Their talent may not be obvious yet, but they only need the chance Fabregas got early on. And they're all under 20 with the world at their feet.
And there are still guys in the 1st team looking to establish themselves - Diaby, Eboue... We have no problems. So Hleb can go.

Every game i've been to it's to Hleb we all shout shoot so what he is saying about cesc is just petty jelousy i suspect. And to be honest if you want out the club then attacking it is not the way to go just leave quietly and with some dignity. Any player who feels they can say this should not be given any chance to stay!

You remember fans never liked Hleb becasue of his trying to give impossible passes which Wenger once described as'eye of a needle pass' and Wenger stuck by him. It is a shame that he repays such rewards by such vitriol. Let him go! If we could lose Henry and Vieira and still play good football, who is Hleb!

The intepretation of Hleb's comments is misleading. Hleb said Cesc is more selfish in front of goal meaning that Cesc will shoot more often then he would. He did not mean that Cesc was greedy or selfish. The press is playing it that way

Just because hleb doesn't ever shoot does not mean cecs cant..i think we shud let hleb go to barca we do not want someone like that at arsenal. We need an out and out left winger someone like silva or someone who can cross the ball like clichy.

Phlegm is the one of the trio that I don't really care about gonig...
The Flamster is gone, bloody shame, he could have been an Arsenal legend.
The Togonator, well I'd rather he hadn't made a fuss, but I still hope he stays.
Phlegm on the other hand has promised so much but has continued to completely under achieve.
And if he really did make those comments then it shows that he doesn't have the sense he was born with... He has simply highlighted his biggect inadequacy... I suspect that inhabitants of the outer hebrides could hear us screaming at him to pull the trigger every time he went past 2 or 3 players to the edge of the box. Shoooooot!!!!!!!!!
Complete under achiever, good riddance.

Wasnt a blast from Hleb, he said he wasn't as happy on the wings ages ago and he never really liked playing there! Also he has said he wishes he would shoot more rather than pass but he does it instinctively rather than shoot so isnt he praising Cesc for being selfish?! Especially when Cesc is one of his best mates at the club. I think this has all been manipulated by the tabloids to stir up someone who will leave eventually, personally I wish him all the best.

Let's get things in perspective before we rush into unsavoury conclusions. First, the article was written by a fervent Spurs supporter in Mr Lipton and his priority on the outset is to try as much as possible to disrupt our preperation for the upcoming season and at the same token give his team every possible chance of qualifying for the Champion's League. Easier said than done!!!

Hleb on the other hand might have been frustrated at having been played out of his preferred position but that does not mean he is scathing in his comments about Wenger as the Newspaper article conived to make us believe. Cultural dispensation could be called in whilst attempting to analyse certain words like selfish. From my country the word 'selfish' could be looked at from 2 angles, good and bad. And I believe as friends on and off the pitch, Hleb could not suddenly stick the knife in Cesc's back just like that. I strongly think that on closer examination he meant the word 'selfish' re: Cesc in a good light and not to be looked at as a lashing out on somebody he considers to be a friend. If you cast your minds back at the start of last season, Flamini, Rosicky, Hleb and Cesc placed a bet to know who would score the most goals between them. How could he have then forgotten that and accused one of the 4 as being selfish. Any footballer who is not selfish in certain given positions or opportunities should go and look for another profession. Hleb actually if you were to read properly between the lines is castigating himself for not being as selfish as Fabregas. Ask him and I bet you he will confirm my statement and remembere too his English is not as good as most hence the Spurs fan masquerading as a chief sports columnist could have used that flaw as an advantage to further increase Arsenal's woes.

that's good for all , we didn't want any one who didn't like the club or the players or the manger or the fan , then we didn't like number 13 maybe it's bad luck for us , i hope the next session is better ..

ialways thought that wenger was going have big problem selling hleb because know one is going pay 15 million an attcking midfielder that does score goals and has very little assists. all this year hleb agents have tried force arsenals hand for a huge contact but it has not worked,i dont know if barc or any of big clubs interetsed in him but evon if they are arsenal are not letting go for less than 15 million and clubs are not going to pay that, plus he still has two years left on his contract.

If fabregas can score much, i would rather see fabregas selfish than anybody else
