No concrete offers for Justin Hoyte

Manager Arsène Wenger has admitted that whilst there is interest for defender Justin Hoyte, no concrete offer has been made.

It was thought that Aston Villa were the most likely to put in an offer for the right-back, but they have now signed Luke Young from Middlesbrough.

Conversely, that has now created a vacancy for the right-back berth at Middlesbrough but there has been no contact from the club.

And Wenger has also denied that the defender was on the verge of a move, but conceded that he may let one or two youths go on loan for vital match experience.

He said: "At the moment, Justin is with us and we have had no formal offer from anybody. There is interest here and there, but nothing concrete.

"I may let one or two go on loan because they need to play," he said. "It is part of their education.

"It is not especially to get Premiership experience, but to play in the first team every week with that pressure.

"Then, when we feel they are ready to integrate in the first team, they come back."

Hoyte is quite content to play as back-up and we need all the back-up we can get at the moment- Phil Neville is no better and he was still at United for ages doing a reasonable job. He's not the greatest player ever to wear the red and white by any means but he's better than Eboue and more disciplined. Yes, he had a crap time of things against Spuds in the CC and United in the FA Cup game but he was played out of position against Spurs and he wasn't the only defender to have a bad game against United. The squad is down to its bare bones as it is and Hoyte can still offer something along the lines of a back-up player.

One can bet on the prospect of Jack Wilshere (16) becoming a regular first team player at least a sub very soon, but that cannot be said about Justin Hoyte (23). Then why keep a mediocre in the squad knowing he can't be relied upon when needed. Please sell this guy to make room for quality.

I honestly cannot comprehend why Justin is still at this club! Wenger has given him enough time to show if he can cut it at the top level yet he still says that he is gonna try his best next season!(at another top club it would have been curtains for him years ago!) He was very costly to the team in some big games last season compared to Manu's Wes Brown who looked solid when called upon. Please Please Arsene let him go!

I say he just sell him. I don't think he's good enough for us apart from his loyalty.
