Wenger hoping to make one more signing

Manager Arsène Wenger has indicated that he would be looking to make one more signing before the close of the transfer window.

Despite indicating that he was too busy to conclude any ongoing transfer negotiations, the Frenchman did admit that he was looking to add one more body into his midfield.

He is looking to sign one more player before the second leg of the club's Champions League qualifier against FC Twente, which will now be broadcast on BBC3 on UK television, after the corporation paid £200,000 for the rights to the game.

However, he stopped short of admitting that his squad lacked enough depth to mount a challenge for the Premiership and Champions League.

Speaking to the club's official website: "Will something be done ahead of the second leg? Certainly yes, but before Saturday, no.

"If you look at the number of players we had out (against Twente), you can say it was very positive for us.

"We did not have Abou Diaby, Cesc Fabregas, Tomas Rosicky, Nasri, Kolo Touré, Eduardo and Senderos while Alexandre Song is at the Olympics.

"We missed seven or eight players, so for me our squad looks big because the players who were here did well."

i think we just need a decent defensive midfield player....the + side of having a young team is stamina & the hunger & desire to win.....C'MON GOONER'S...GUNNER 4 LIFE.......

yep i defintely agree with this, and i really hope arsene' signs a well experience young player possibly inler, i dont think we will win any cups with our team at this stage unless we add another well experienced and skilled player.

our squad is big yes i admit but as long as we lack that midfield pairing we cant produce that magic we need to challenge the title, trying out Abdou Diaby is also a good idea but it would be an even better idea if we would have several options for that position as the season is long and a lot of things can happen during the season.i will also that Denilson seems to be now coming off age i'm impressed

When we talk about squad depth, it doesn't translate into squad numbers only but numbers with experienced players that can hold forth for each other when injury or fatigue crept in. Though Wenger may not agree with my definition of squad depth, but in all honesty we still lack the needed squad depth to win things. It's great though to hear he hopes to make one more signing before the 2nd leg against FC Twente, we can only pray it will be an experienced type and not one for the future.
