Wenger urges fans to support Adebayor

Wenger urges fans to support Adebayor

By Jonathan Chong on Monday, August 18, 2008

The Togolese international has burnt many bridges due to his wage demand shenanigans over the summer, nor was he enthusiastically greeted by the Emirates crowd, but the manager has urged Arsenal fans to get behind and support striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

Arsène Wenger has said that what happened over the summer with Adebayor was the direct result of press manipulation from football agents, and not a true reflection of what the Arsenal striker wanted.

He said: "We have to get behind him.

"What took place in the summer was manipulation from agents and did not reflect his deep desire."

I was plain simply disgusted with his performance on saturday.Nothin really has improved in his game.

1.the same dreadful first touch

2.one of the worst finishers, ive seen at arsenal

3.and for f*** sake why does he attempt that low left corner finish like henry???he will nvr get it..
that is wat seperates the best from the rest..

The point i would like to raise her is adebayor will never be a true matchwinner for arsenal.
If u had seen the liverpool game on saturday,we could clearly see wat a difference a guy fernando torres makes to the game.
Can arsenal produce a moment like that with adebayor?
NEVER!!

there is no time to turning back..We have to get behind him. let Ade finish his job first. And at the end of season we will find out.

I was expecting a few boo's on Ade for the first few games of the season, which is fine. Its the fans way of letting him know that no one is bigger than the club. In a couple more games things will be like it was last season. But hopefully this season he will finish the majority of the chances falling his way then as last year he missed a fair few, then he will be a top quality striker.

Wenger should stop supporting Adebayor. This guy is no Henry and will never reach Henry level in term of skill, goal scoring ability or attitude. The guy is so self-righteous and it's not the one we need if we want to be a good and winning team.

If there's opportunity, I'd urge Wenger to sell him and try to sign David Villa to partner Eduardo/Van Persie.

He must prove himself. He was rubbish when it really mattered last season, and yet again we had 12+ chances and took 1. Unless he steps up and scores more we will be in trouble. Same old story.

stop trying to place the ball at the bottom left hand corner of the GK post, is becoming more and more predictable! you get the support you need when you start to convert more chances rather than missed them.

With the way he played? There REALLY something wrong with this setup. I think it would be better for him to prove himself first.

WENGER WILL LIKELY REGRET STRUGGLING TO KEEP HIM. SHOULD HAVE GONE TO SOUTH AMERICA OR SPAIN TO GET A MORE DEADLY STRIKER FOR LESS.

Do we really have a choice? what options do we have but to get behind Adebayor and treat him like the biblical prodigal son.

You can say what you want about his wage demands or manipulation, but he must score goals in big games. Nothing else matters. He has missed too many big chances .
