Manager Arsène Wenger has once again leapt to the defence of striker Emmanuel Adebayor, saying that the Togolese international has been unfairly treated by the media.
During the summer, Adebayor was reported in the press as holding the club to ransom over an increase in wages - he threatened to move to Italian club AC Milan who were willing to meet his new requirements.
But Wenger says that no such threat took place, and that Adebayor has indicated to him that he was always intending on staying with the North London club.
Wenger said: "I cannot understand the fans' disappointment with him - his heart is with the club.
"I believe that Emmanuel has been unfairly treated, because he had a lot of interest from many big clubs and he always told me one-to-one his preference was to stay. In the end he stayed.
"That story did not come out like that in the press and unfortunately he is paying a price for a story which is not really him.
"He made a press conference in Austria where people interpreted his statements a bit differently, but I know what he told me, and I know he made sacrifices to stay.
"I was convinced he wanted to stay, but I was not always convinced he would stay because there is a big difference in that.
"People have advisors and some clubs pay higher wages than we do, we have to accept that."

ade is a player with gr8 potential and he has shown what he can do,but the problem is he is not a gr8 visionary like rooney or henry who can change the game when noones expecting it,but i think we should give him a chance this season as well because he did quite well last year, and we should only sell him if we get a really good player like drogba or rooney.
otherwise arsene, keep him he's a good player, just make sure he doesnt get carried away

You guys are pathetic, how dare you call a player who is giving all for the team a donkey. Clearly most of you have not played football in your lives. You use the internet to voice your opinion that you clearly have nobody to share with because of your lonely lives. Ade and VP must keep trying, and in Arsene we trust!!!

Mr. Venger,we are fade up of your defence for Adebayor. Why do we need a striker who doen not have a killer quality. He scores one in ten good chances. The problem is he doesnot think and decide fast. The earlier you sell him the better it would be.With his performance,i think no club would buy him.it is a lost case.

Leave them ALONE! It happened with Henry in last two seasons to the dertiment of the club, now it's shifted to Adebayor!
Maybe the guys didn't do too well cuz disaffection might be brewing in the camp.

I believe the fans are furious about the pay rise. Adebayor need to show he's worth his wage to stop the boo.
