Wenger happy with Arsenal rout of FC Twente

Manager Arsène Wenger has expressed his delight at his side's demolition of Dutch-side FC Twente last night.

The Gunners won 4-0 with goals from Samir Nasri, William Gallas, Theo Walcott and Nicklas Bendtner, demonstrating that the Gunners had put the weekend's disappointing result against Fulham behind them.

The Arsenal manager accused his squad of not being focused enough or having enough desire, and it had the desired effect as the Gunners blew away a determined FC Twente.

Wenger said: "It was a big game for us and the response was clear.

"There was togetherness and focus. That is what we wanted after a result like Saturday.

"We needed to be organised because they play a little with your patience. We were disciplined and focused and we were never really under threat.

"I felt the whole team was sharp. Physically we were much better than Saturday."

The Gunners progressed into the next round of the draw with a 6-0 aggregate.

I am happy that Wenger, at least, had listened to our suggestions by dropping Toure, Eboue, and Adebayor from the starting lineup. I really hope Eduardo and Rosicky can come back soon, so that we will have a strong attacking force up front with Eduardo/RVP, Nasri/Cesc/DM/Rosicky, and Bendtner/Ade, Eboue/Walcott/Vela/Wilshere/Song as subs. When we play away games, Eboue could replace Nasri or Rosicky, and when we play physical teams, Bendtner or Ade could start ahead of Eduardo. SO, DM is the last puzzle we are missing.

Yeah we're all happy with the performance Mr Wenger, but a club like Arsenal SHOULD be hammering teams like Twente without question. I'd imagine a few supporters last night were unsure what to expect, I certainly was. Yes, good performance, but the issues still stand for me. Reinforcement needed, Van Persie needs his eyes testing and Denilson needs lessons in simple passing.

I hope that Wenger won't play Bentner never again..
What a downright disaster..

he
- just can't pass his man
- is terribly slow
- s got the technique of an elephant
- his positioning is too poor

I really got sick watching him..
But for the rest, quite a good performance by the Arsenal

The win over Twente gives every Gooners relief that at least we will feature in the lucrative Champs Lge again this season. But truth be told, we aren't going to meet many side as weak as FC Twente at group the stage neither would we meet many of such sides at the EPL. In essence, we still need quality and experince strenthning at the middle of the pack as we cannot always wait till Fabrigas is on the pitch before we can play good football.

And now for the real test..... we will still have to raise our game to beat any PL team 4-0. One thing is for sure, without the Spanish Maestro we are only ever at 50%. Wenger says that its down to the whole team and not just one player. But when that one player gives you as much as Cesc gives us then it is hard to play great without him. It was a good show after the Fulham game and I hope we build on this.
