Defender Gaël Clichy has said that him and his team mates owed it to the club's supporters to dominate and demolish Dutch-side FC Twente.
The Gunners won 4-0 thanks to goals from Samir Nasri, Theo Walcott, William Gallas and Nicklas Bendtner, but Clichy said that a complete performance was necessary.
Arsenal experienced a disappointing loss against Fulham (their first in the Premier League) last weekend but the bitter taste of defeat would not have been as bad had there been a bit of fight in the performance on the pitch.
And now that the Gunners are back to winning ways, it is important that the momentum is maintained, starting with Newcastle tomorrow.
Clichy said: "We had to do it for the fans because I think everyone is agreed that the Fulham game was not the way we play.
"Sometimes you can't play your game but it's the way you behave on the pitch, and the fans have always been there for us since the first day I came to Arsenal.
"It was a really big blow and we felt sorry about it but now it has passed and we have to do the right thing for the fans.
"When you play in English football, you know that any team you play is going to be a tough game. Fulham showed us that you have to be up for every game, game after game because English football is so different than any other football in Europe. We will learn from that and hopefully it won't happen again.
"For a club like Arsenal, we have to be at the top and to be at the top you have to play with the right spirit so that's what we tried to do last night and we showed with the players we have got, if everyone is playing the same way, we can have a great result."
"We have to maintain it. Premier League games are different to Champions League. With respect to Twente, Newcastle will be a different side and we know it is always tough to play against them.
"We have to be focused, have a good rest before the game and try to do our best and I am sure we can do it."

why cant we simply put good perfomances on the pitch.its better to lose playing well coz u will be showing spirit rather than lose playing badly like the game against Fulham.hope to see better perfomance tomorrow.

The real question is, can the below-par arsenal this season do it again and again in PR. fc20 is not up to the standart of PR. the young guns haven't been consistent in PR since man-u spoil the unbeaten record. bring in some new faces before it is too late. plz AW stop being conservative and use ur damn money to abate arsenal fans' frustrations. a team with out trophies is like a lion without his mane and teeth. if AW remains adamant about buying players, i am sure Arsenal will be beaten like pinata. plzzzz AW.....do sth

delboy i was there too and i couldnt agree with you any more. the Twente fans were in high spirits throughout the game and there little corner section should have put most arsenal fans to shame! i think the problem was that because the tickets went on general sale, there were a lot of fair weather fans who didnt know a lot of the chants etc....but i still found it almost embarrassing, the twente fans looked like they were having a hell of a lot of fun even though they were on the end of a beating!

i was at the twente game and i have to say their fans were amasing. Sang all the way. Gooners were so quiet it was embarrising. Get behind the team lads and they will respond. Enough of the negative talk. Lets not make emerites another library.

Win the CL and the PREM???? You must be a really hopeful person to think that we have a chance of capturing those titles in the near future. All faithful Arsenal fans should switch-off winning any title and just mentally gear themselves up to supporting the team in the coming weeks - because it will be hard and disappointing. This squad is not going to win anything. There will be a few brilliant games and hopeful stretches but they are not going to win any silverware for us this season. Once again your captchas suck!!!!
It.

Clichy has been amazing this past week. His media proclamations have always been positive and always been about the fans. This lad will hopefully be captain soon.

You owe it to the fans to win the CL and PREM. Stop talking big about a job that was virtually done. Win the Prem matches.
If you lose to or draw with Newcastle, you will have virtually lost the title.
