Vieira: Gunners need a general to boss them

Former Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira says that the Gunners need a 'leader' on the pitch, someone who is willing to do the dirty work and get stuck into tackles.

Vieira also reckons that manager Arsène Wenger's signing of Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre could be a master stroke, as his fellow countryman has the experience to cope with the pressures of the domestic league.

The Frenchman said: "Arsenal, on paper, in one game, are capable of beating any team.

"This season they need to sign a midfield player, a big leader in the middle. Arsène has made good signings over the years and I hope he will find somebody right for the club.

"They may struggle at the crucial moment in the season when they need to win the big games.

"They have the quality and potential but lack the experience to be competitive in all of the big games.

"Mikael Silvestre can be a success at Arsenal. He has the mental strength and talent to cope with pressure."

Vieira is saying indirectly to wenger to resign patrick vieira, lolz the man wants to come back, hes total player to be honesti wouldnt be suprised if he is back by next year, he is old though,

we got fabregas leader but gallas is total player to be honest one of the best defenders arsenal have ever had since adams, campbell have left!

There is no doubt that we need to reinforce our midfield. Arsene must use every opportunity to sign in a player who has outstanding record in this area. We cannnot afford ending this season empty handed againn i.e. 4 seasons in a row. Wish Gunners good luck this time around.

The win against newcastle surelly make wenger fill that his ceentral midfilders are strong,mind u bos,uring january window plzzzzzzzzz make anew sign of midfilder like barry,Reo cocker,Bullard,And many other clasic players.luv u all gunners.

wenger deserves alot of credit for buyin playas that noone would ever of thought of. He was criticised for buyin ade but now hes a down rite legend. The centre of mid is lackin a hard man, denilson isnt quite up to it. Gattuso would be a awesome signing, tough, exierienced and a great passer

this indicates we don't have a leader as well who else other than Chicky Gallas,give the arm band to csec before he leaves he loves Arsenal and i would love to see Gallas and Silly-vester leave before they cost us serious penalties that cost us championship like the famous one that confirmed United champions.

It would be a gamble to get Viera back, I think a character like Viera strolling back into the team could upset the team spirit, friends or not, Gallas would not want to give the armband up for Viera, and I could not see the point in Viera being a squad player. Plus does he have the qaulity,fitness and bossiness he had in midfield? I doubt it! Xaxi Alonso would be a safer bet!
