Adebayor: We want to win the Champions League

Striker Emmanuel Adebayor has said that him and his team mates are desperate to win football's most coveted club trophy - the Champions League.

After coming close against Barcelona, losing 2-1 after having taken the lead, the Gunners have not played in another final but the Togolese international says that his team now want to go one better and win the competition.

Adebayor, who is hoping his goal-scoring run continues against Dynamo Kyiv tonight, said: "We had every chance to win the Champions League against Barcelona. I couldn't play back then because I was cup-tied and in my head it was difficult.

"Now I have a chance to play so there's an argument for me to be more hungry than most of my team-mates, but I think I'm not the only one.

"Francesc Fabregas lost in the final as well and Kolo Touré lost in the final, too, so to be honest I think all these players would like to win it.

"These are the things that we're going to pin together as brothers and help each other on the pitch and off the pitch to try to achieve something this season.

"I don't know whether we're going to win the Champions League or the Premier League but we have to achieve something because we have the quality within the squad.

"We just have to believe in the squad and believe in ourselves to do it."

Please can somebody just let Adebayor know that the champions league is won by players hitting the back of the net and not losing chances like last night.

yes i think we should get our hearts on something big, but don't get too ahead of our-selves. this will encourage arsenal and make them fight harder for their target. Like what Leeds Utd did, they aimed not to get relagated last season, they were -15 points at the start of the season, and they achieved their ambition and won their first games to get them to 0 points, they were on a roll and by the end of the season they had a place in the league one play-offs which they got to wemberley stadium and unfortunately was defeated by under-dogs Doncaster. But their ready to do even better this season especially with Luciano Becchio and Jermaine Beckford.
Hope arsenal have the same ambition to win some cups this time/season.
