Wenger: Three points was vital

Manager Arsène Wenger says that it was vital that his team found the character and determination to fightback against a well-organised Everton side to claim all three points.

The Gunners fell behind to an early Everton goal but eventually scored the goals to ensure a 3-1 win.

And Wenger says that if his team had suffered another loss, they would have been seven points behind in the title race and that would be a huge mountain to climb so early in the season.

Wenger said: "We have to stay as close as we can to the top. Had we lost, we would have been seven points behind the leaders. That's too many points.

"It would not be all over, but you give yourself a big mountain to climb if you are seven points behind Chelsea.

"You don't want your team to lose confidence and after the shock against Hull, not to win against Everton would have been difficult for the confidence for the team."

it was good that we came from behind to register a win but what i have alway said is that we have a very thin squad and the manager has always squashed that talk. if you look at a team like chelsea with most of their players out they are looking a very good team that can challenge silver wares so wenger should know that we can not move at this pace. if we cant buy any one in jan transfer window then we are doomed

A very good win. A slow start and poor finnishing made it a very nervous first half. Clichy was the starman for Arsenal. Continualy driving forward with urgency, his tackling and the save off the line was outstanding. Silvestre had a good game.
I am not convinced that Denilson and Fabregas are a good pairing. One needs to sit while the other goes forward to support V. Persie and Ade. Denilson was too often caught ball watching or not bursting a gut to get back to support the defence.
V. Persie needs to work on his right foot and Ade looks goal shy, electing to pass the ball rather than shoot.
Arsenal haven't reached first gear yet. Any thing can happen football. Chelsea conceeded a goal and dropped two point against the team at the bottom of the EPL.
