Walcott: Europe fear us

Striker Theo Walcott has said that Europe will now be paying attention to Arsenal, after the Gunners' performance against Fenerbahce.

The 5-2 demolition of the Turkish side was testament that the 4-0 thrashing of former European champions Porto was no fluke.

But it does beg the question of how defeats to Fulham and Hull City have transpired.

And that is where Walcott thinks the Gunners have to improve - they have to improve on a defence that has looked vulnerable and shaky when put under pressure from set-pieces.

Walcott said: "All the teams in Europe will look and see the 5-2 win by Arsenal, away and with a young team, and I think they will be scared to play us.

"That's the impression we want to give out to all the other teams. We do that and we have always got them on the back foot and hopefully we can just keep performing like that.

"It was absolutely brilliant. The main thing was getting the three points and everyone got their jobs right today. We scored five goals and it was nice to see us taking our chances.

"We knew their fans would be right behind them. But we quietened them down straight away by scoring two very early goals - it was a brilliant performance."

"We will have to study this game ahead of the next one. We just need to take the positives out of last night because it's something we need to learn from.

"There were quite a few negatives as well but it's not going to always be perfect every game. Everybody wants to keep a clean sheet. But it was definitely perfect in the final third."

Same old talk...Players and Manager have been saying this kind of stuff for four years now...we need to put our heads down and stop chatting s**t while we're still in the group stages. I don't think Europe's big clubs will fear us if we don't improve defensively. We need to be more combatant in midfield aswell. Fenerbace were sleeping, which is unlike them at home...On the other hand I really do believe this team has A LOT of potential...lets just win something this season and more trophies will come in the future!!!

COME ON ARSENAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
