Wenger: We know we have the passion and determination

Despite what bloggers, match pundits and journalists alike are saying, manager Arsène Wenger says that he knows there is enough passion and commitment in his players to be serious title contenders.

The team were accused of lacking a lot of things that resulted in a last minute capitulation to local rivals Tottenham, but Wenger says that in the bigger scheme of things, the Gunners didn't lose the match.

Wenger said: "We were all very disappointed. The mood in the dressing room was of disbelief and frustration. But the players are united, passionate and want to win.

"They are in this together, they want to be winners together. We have a long way to go and we are all determined to show that we can fight for this title together. We know the truth on the inside and that is not what has been projected on the outside. We know what we have to do.

"It's not all bad but it is disappointing. Our run is going on and I would say the future of our season lies in how much we learn from games like that.

"We have fantastic potential but the future of the team is about what we do with that potential. We want to address that very quickly and respond."

I have always had the greatest respect for Arsene Wenger and I just don't want to loose this respect but for him to say that the team is (a) 'learning from these type of games? I'm sori, this hasn't happened over 3 seasons because the same mistakes are repeated. (b) Passion? Togetherness? Arsene must wake up & smell the roses cos this is not true. You see them shout & argue with each other on the field. You see (the good players) shoulders drop with despondancy when they are 'open' and the ball is not passed to them. When (the good players) make a good pass and the guy he is passing to just stands there. Doesn't take the 2 steps forward to collect the ball - rather lets the opposition have it. Doesn't show the will to win for me.
For me there are (consistently) 3 excellent players -Fabregas, Sagnet & Clichy. There are 2 very good players - Almunia & Walcott. There are 3 fairly good players - Toure, van Persie & Song. As for the rest I would sell them. Maybe not, I would give them away.
You can have the best defense in the world & keep a clean sheet every week but if you don't score goals you cannot win the league or anything else. If you leak goals but are scoring at will - that's much better. (Presuming you can't have both)
One question & I would love honest answer. When Flamini left Arsene said that they wouldn't break their wage structure for anybody. Yet I believe they doubled Adebayour's salary. Is this true?
Take Denilson in one hand & Flamini in the other - who would you rather have? Take Hleb in one hand and Diaby in the other. Who? Take Adebayour & pretty much any goalscorer that could have been bought. Who?
It is very obvious that poor Denilson is not up to standard & probably never will be but even worse is that he interferes with Fabregas's play. Diaby is sweet but 75% of his passes go to the opposition?
Okay sori for this but I get very disturbed each time I watch Arsenal play lately because it seems as if Arsene Wenger has blinders on. I hate to say it but has he become a bit egotistical? I just so hope not.

AW bet the match against Stoke has made you eat your words. You keep taliking about the future of the this team but i am afraid that soon there will be no team after key players leave at the end of another trophyless season.

we like harry redknapp because at least he's honest to the media. some of us dont like fergie and sometimes i dont but then forget everything else and look at the man and what he's achieved and what he says.
imagine either one of harry or fergie or even mourinho. if their team plays as rubbish as we do, they'd never try to hide the facts from the media and fans. they'd come out and say they were rubbish and they need to improve. theres pressure on them to perform. we on the other hand are having a ball. no pressure on manager to deliver. no pressure on kids to deliver either.
maybe its time wenger tries to be honest and admits making mistakes rather than make ridiculous excuses which most can see through.

I am getting tired of Arsenal wenger and not the Arsenal team itself. Frustration and high blood pressure in every game. And this had been making the fans sick and discouraged. It will be advisable for Wenger to buy players coz i am still surprised to know what is doing with Arsenal's financial power. Hope you will do something positive before is late?

What I see of Arsenal compared to teams like Chelsea and Manchester United is that Arsenal players display the least committment and determination in their games. Apologies to Fabregas, Gael Clichy, Theo Walcot, Denilson, Almunia and Van Persie who stand out. Adebayo squanders most of the chances offered by the mid fielders and trots around like he's the new Thiery Henry. The other players arent quite the level of determination expected of players in the Premiere League. Wenger needs to do something fast. Stoke, Hull, Fulham! Who else will beat us this season?

and wats the truth on the inside?. you should have kept flams or replaced him instead of tryin build a super french XI when you got silvestre. he's not a bad signing but how could you not replace flams ,he always covered for our overlapping defenders . we now have to wait for denilson or song to learn the trade and build their stamina.
