Manager Arsène Wenger is questioning the referee's decision to send off Robin van Persie for a challenge that was at most, a yellow card.
The Frenchman should be questioning the actions of his own striker for making a rash challenge in a game that also saw strikers Theo Walcott and Emmanuel Adebayor injured.
It puts strain on an already bare strike force in a week that will see the Gunners face Fenerbahce and Manchester United.
Wenger said: "It should have been a yellow.
"He should not have done it and he knows that but a red card was harsh.
"We lacked sharpness. It was very difficult. You could see that Stoke, physically, were a bit stronger than us.
"We had a lot of the ball but did not create many chances," added Wenger. "We did not create enough chances for the possession that we had.
"And we conceded goals that Stoke are strong at. We lost many players and had a red card."

Aww Guys com'mon...
That's a clear a yellow assuming the game was a tie at that time or we were leading but Van Persie's intent on sorenson was quite bad plus the frustration of VP at the time. It is a red card, he should't appeal but we have to look ahead, like it or not, Fabregas, Nasri, Song, clichy and Carlos Vela will be our Cannon for the next two weeks, just hope denilson & the defence (Including the blonde spainard) will follow the train.

TELL WENGER TO BUY EXPERIENCE PLAYERS AND HE SHOULD FORGET ABOUT OVER USING THESE KIDS FOR GOODNESS SAKE.
I DONT THINK THIS MAN CAN WIN TROPHY BECAUSE HE HAD BEEN PUTTING MONEY IN THE BOARD BUT NOT TROPHY.
SO TELL HIM TO STOP MAKING NOISE, INSTEAD BEEF UP THE TEAM WITH EXPERIENCE.
IMAGINE A MIDFIELD HEADED BY 21 YEAR OLD FABREGAS....
I DONT KNOW WHAT WENGER IS THINKING COS ARSENAL IS GOING DOWN THE DRAINNNNN...

The red card was unjust;nonetheless, while those who fouled Adebayor and Sagna were not penalized?

the pure stupidity of it deserves a red card and a club fine. Wenger has lost the plot.

Poor Winger! He just needs a team to face that does not defend in a stabborn way and does not play physically then he is able to win over it! Someone tells me which team will do him this favor, to open his defence and touch his players delicately?!
Dear Wenger, your arguments look very stupid!

I'm speechless...
this is like the wizard of oz when they all realize that the menacing voice and the big green head were really a little dwarf behind a curtain.
what do i mean?
how can this french man question the referee's judgement at a time when the whole league (including practically every arsenal fan now) is questioning his tactics, transfer policy and double standard about nationalities of players?

That was harsh, i still remembered 2 3 seasons ago, and it happened twice, the opponent shoved Feb down, and was yellow carded and the ref explained it was a shove to the chest...and another time when we scored and feb tried to waste time by by shielding the ball that bounced in the net, and was shoulder charged onto the ground...yellow carded for both. what the hell.

keeper made the most of it...shame on sorenson..have to say thank god spurs beat liverpool ...we are still very much in the title race ...despite all the doom and gloom I still believe 100% in arsene wenger and what he is trying to do..our problems are mental more than anything else...some of these players need to be reminded but for Arsene they would not be anywhere near Arsenal...... i know this sounds strange but i feel we will win the league this season....does anyone else out there think the same?

It was no way a red card . the challenge on ade didn't even get a yellow . From behind with the studs showing also Sagna and Walcott had thesame treatment .
How can you have a plan b if the players you send on get dismissed or taken out .

Wenger stop moaning!! Everytime we have a lot of the ball and don't create anything. You have to come up with a plan to beat these stubborn teams rather than just telling the boy's to go out and play attacking football. Don't you realise that you are now been exposed as a woeful tactician.

What RVP did was absolutely stupid, no questions, everyone knows challenging a goal keeper, in that manner deserves a straight red.
