Praise for Clichy and Vela

Manager Arsène Wenger is expecting Mexican wonderkid Carlos Vela to step up to the plate and shine against Wigan Athletic in tonight's Carling Cup tie.

Regular strikers Emmanuel Adebayor and Robin van Persie are unavailable for selection tonight and Wenger wants to provide Vela with as much experience in the first-team as possible.

Wenger said: "He is naturally gifted, quick, intelligent and with very good technique, so you now want him to add that combative, determined side that makes the difference.

"He'll quickly be a world-class striker when he adds that to his game. Some day we all get our chance - the target is to take that chance when you get it, and he has the potential to do that."

Defender Gaël Clichy also had praise for new signing Aaron Ramsey, who has impressed in the few appearances he's made this season.

Ramsey is expected to feature as well tonight, and Clichy says: "It's another positive step for him and for the team - we need everyone in the squad because it's a really important period with a lot of tiredness and injuries, so everyone has to be ready and if he can carry on like this then it's good news."

I also don't get why Vela hasn't been given playing time in the EPL, he's defo' good enough!! He's prob the best attacker (if not entire team player) we have that can keep the ball! He's amazing with it! Great goal last night, his finishing is unbelievable!!!

would prefer him to be starting more EPL matches instead.time for him to be a constant figure in the starting eleven already.

i believe vela deserve more play time than he's getting between him & bendtner. i pick carlos.

I dont understand why Wenger doesnt use vela in te EPL, especially now ade's gone off injured. He's the perfect man in keeping the ball inside the box. He will improve much quicker if Wenger gives him more chances in the EPL
