Manager Arsène Wenger has admitted that his side are currently not consistent enough to be challenging for the Premiership title.
The Gunners lost 2-0 to Aston Villa yesterday and it is more the manner of the performance that would have the Frenchman worried.
Wenger said: "I don't believe that you can speak about champions or not champions. If you want to be champions you want to be consistent and at the moment we are not.
"I do not want to go on definite solutions or headlines. I just think that despite the fact that we were not at our best, this game was winnable. We lost it at a moment when we should not have lost it anymore.
"Had we lost it in the first half, ok 'bye-bye' they had their day and they won. But we lost this game today from the moment when we shouldn't lost it anymore.
"How many times was I in press conferences where I thought that we deserved to win the game but we lost and everybody finds it absolutely normal.
"I say Villa played well and they deserved to win but we lost the game from the moment when we were slowly getting on top of them. That is the kind of game where you cannot afford to make mistakes defensively.
"We were not sharp and they were never in the situation where they had to come out.
"When we made the changes it was 0-0 and we lost 0-2. You can make all kinds of explanations but as a team we were not sharp."

We have a great team, the player are there but not get to play. He keep playing wrong player (Bendtner) for the last few games i've seen what he could not doing anything right. He is just a waste of space,I do believe if Carlos Vela have play last week end against Aston Villa thing will be different from the very begin.

Arsene Wenger seems to be making a very mistake which is playin Bendtner. Bendtner never made good use of the ball anytime he is fed with it. He is a player that should be loaned to gain experience.

yes that's very true but what it is true also is that we started to get the upper hand only after kicking out bentder and diabi if i was the coach i would have did that after the first 30 minutes .it is either you are the coach or not in the dressing room and on the pitch side as well....courage boys.

Arsene, I said the same thing on this website about 4 or 5 games into the season. What has taken you so long to realise this?

i think its the best time we bring change to the arsenal management.rather we need a attack minded coach who acts when things arent going so well than wenger who is more of business minded.

inexperienced is inexperienced...all we need is experience player..where are the 1999-2004 arsenal winning trophy team?perhaps we got excellent talented squad we have now but im still think they lacks of something in the midfield area there when we got a chance to counter attack. All i hope is to BUY!!!i would love it if mr.wenger buy some top and experience player if not the likes of fabregas will leave the team...sry for my poor english language =D

Wenger always uses the excuse that we wernt sharp! So why wernt the team sharp? There is no excuse for it,and it happens too often to be just one of those things.Man U,Chelsea, and Liverpool were sharp...for that matter so were Aston Villa,.....Top 4 material should always be sharp, whatever the circumstances,if players are tired not fully fit ,or not playing well, then the squad should be big enough and good enough to carry such burdens.

last season Arsenal was short of top players, Flamini, Gilberto, Diara, Sanderos all are gone- not replaced,
Naturally this team is worst then that of last season.
Title challenge is over 6 weeks before Christmas.
May be Mr AW needs to be made accountable for his transfer decisions and current team that he has assembled to challenge MU, Liverpool and Chelski for the title.

Maybe if we had some more experienced solid heads (not United discards like Silvestre or a crying captain like Gallas) on the field, we would not crumble so often...
Arsene's time is up. He doesn't 'know' anymore... the thing he forgets in all his calculations is the human element of a player, the thing that makes the player a fighter on the field. That's the thing that's been completely absent in this Arsenal side for a very very long time now. Its too long our conservative board has persisted now... time for a change. If not now, by the end of this season (I really hope I am proven wrong though), everyone will be convinced.
