Almunia: We have let ourselves down

Goalkeeper Manuel Almunia has said that the players have let themselves down and should take a good look at themselves.

The Spaniard also said that the team would continue improving and would not give up hope on winning honours this season.

Almunia said: "We have to continue doing our job. First of all because of respect for the fans.

"Anything is possible but we have to change many things from today.

"We are the same team [as last Saturday] but each player has to analyse his performance because today's game was Arsenal's worst for a long time.

"It is very disappointing because after the penalty I thought the team would be more excited and grow with desire to win the game.

"But the penalty did not change anything and that is embarrassing for us."

I was disappointed with the performance of our players in that match because, l thought the will be won by arsenal. But they play as if there nothing at stake for them well, l hope is not lost they can still catch by playing with seriousness or else the league is over for this season.

Guys all is not over, the players should see the worst they have done and try to improve. Again every team is expecting to stay at the top. Let us hope they are going to improve.

Spot-on! A brilliant article that highlights NOTHING ELSE BUT THE TRUTH. Wenger should spare time and glance through it.

The trouble is that there is to much talk and little action. After every poor result we hear the same comment from players stating that they must improve if they are to win anything but each time after one or two good results its back to square one.
The team is better balanced with Eboue rather than Walcott, who is still an impact player at the moment. I agree that Arsenal as not replaced Flamini. Denilson is good but not as an holding midfielder. Denilson is a substitute for Fabregas who seems like a poor shadow of himself.
One thing that was common in the past with the great Arsenal team created by Wenger was that they had strikers with exceptional pace, Wright, Anelka and Henry and or the team had the ability to break quickly. Ade is quick but does not have exceptional pace and the team is too lethargic in its build up this season.
Arsenal is two or three players short of being a great team again. They can win the CL, FA Cup or League cup as this does not require consistency or a great team but luck.

Has anyone considered that VanPersie may be the one to blame for all this because of his stupid sending off that left as with the likes of Bendtner to look up to?

The midfield need to be rested for a long time with the exception of Diaby and perhaps Nasri. Cesc is not the same without his friends Flamini and Hleb. And Denilson is a Carling Cup player. I say this with some sadness but he just doesn't do it for me. Well the back 4 what can I say? Bacary Sagna is battling with the 2nd season syndrome and not the player he was last season. Sylvestre should not have replaced Toure, then again Toure hasn't been the answer this season & he's put on weight too. Upfront, forget Bendtner. He is just not a premiership player. Adebayor , his salary hike has become a burden too much to bear for him. I think the whole team needs something drastic doing to it as it is not the Arsenal team all have come to fear and respect. I am not even sure now 4th place is a banker with Villa breathing down our neck. How are the mighty fallen!! Arsene should look at himself in the mirror now.
