Wenger has no regrets over summer spending

By Jonathan Chong on Tuesday, November 18, 2008

Manager Arsène Wenger has said that he has no regrets on his transfer activities over the summer.

The Frenchman was criticised for not bringing in a defensive midfielder and world class centre-back in order to add more physical strength to his side.

However, Wenger is standing by his decision to instead use the immense talent and potential at his disposal from the Arsenal youth system.

He said: "We had no player we really wanted and for now we have no regrets.

"You cannot explain the own goal of Gaël Clichy by the fact we haven't got an experienced player in midfield."

Arsene Wengers Economics i think has come to apoint where its no longer applicable in the epl, gone are the days of robbing a patrick vieira, a Henry or a Pires, look at utd's spending at Berbatov, can u wenger copy some of these ideas, what's the point of making more money yet not spending it on world class players, silvestre, what ever that means !sign a Defoe, a Yaya Toure ,please wenger come to our senses.

FG is right.. Wenger has no regret for failures because he is not undergoing any pressure frm the board to win trophies. The board also are not interested in any trophy coz goes for trophy means to spend alot & tht's not their idea. The idea is to spend less by buying cheap players & pay them peanuts. Tht's why Wenger will not sign any world class player in the near future. He don't regret coz he don't give a shit abt what we feels as funs. I love Arsenal bt i thnk its high tyme we do s'thng to save our team frm the hands of ths fellows.

its very clear to all fans that wenger is not ready to win trophies. so i think arsenal fans should b ready for his so called youth system because by next season fabregas, adebayor will leave arsenal and it will be left building a new team once again. wenger must change or go.

Arsene Wenger is a great manager but no doubt he is obsessed with his obsolete policy. Present Arsenal squad is unable to win any trophy on earth, as simple as that. Wenger is no God. Everywhere we see that teams having several superstars are wining silverware. Wenger must buy a worldclass goalkeeper (Almunia is a waste), a tall central defender (I feel Senderos was better than Gallas) and a strong tackler in the midfield. Xabi Alonso would have been a very good addition. In Man U, they have Roonie, Berbatov, Ronaldo, Tevez. In Chelsea, they have Drogba, Anelka, Kalou, Malouda, Lampard, Ballack. In comparison, our squad is very very weak.

I think he just can't admit when he has made a mistake.

Wenger would have regrets about his transfer activities in the summer if someone on the board explained to him that a fourth season with no trophies will not be acceptable at a club like Arsenal and Arsenal is not his personal play-thing.
Of course, nobody on the board will say these things to hom and he will feel no pressure or obligation to win trophies; he now has far too much power in the club.

In his final days at Monaco he became obsessed with young players and would not buy the experienced players that everyone else knew the team needed to wiin trophies. Does this ring any bells? The board there sacked him. I'm not saying he should be sacked now, but he needs to be put under some pressure to deliver trophies, and he cannot or will not do it, the club really is bigger than any individual.

You may well have no regrets Wenger , but the 60,000 that go each game have, you should have bought last year and this year, Gallas is a joke Captain and Sylvestre is a French Stepanovs
