Wenger: We have to move on

Manager Arsène Wenger has urged Arsenal fans to move on after yesterday's defeat against Manchester City.

The Gunners slumped to a 3-0 defeat against City, their fifth in the league this season which leaves their Premiership title challenge in tatters.

Wenger said: "I think we had enough focus and gave everything. It is not always negative and we have to take the positives and keep the belief. In a big club you have to go through these periods, and how we deal with it will shape our future.

"I always look at myself, even when we win. We are not in a blaming culture at our club and we must stand up to our own responsibilities.

"I believe we must focus on the next game and not have set targets that don't look immediately reachable. Lets try to win and see where we go from here. I have had worse weeks!"

The Frenchman also refused to comment on William Gallas, who this week was dropped from the squad and stripped of the captain's armband.

Wenger said: "I won't talk about William Gallas. He is just a player who did not play today so we don't need to talk about that or any of the other nine players who missed the game."

Hoyte marked on Robinho?
you have to know that Hoyte is not Eboue who did very well in marking Robinho two years ago at Real Madrid's stadium.

It won't be easy to forget results such as this or past ones this season - but we entered this game in horrible circumstances.

I still feel we need to strengthen come January, till then, we need to gather unity and confidence, and appoint a worthy captain ASAP.

I agree... we had enough focus and gave everything. Which leads me to say what I have said from the start of the season.... This squad of players doesn't look strong enough to compete for the premiership title. We lose Cesc, Ade and Gallas for yesterdays game and it was easy enough to see the lack of direction. Only when Ramsey came on did I see anyone start playing like the Arsenal we know and love. Our players are good but not good enough. No depth and now no leadership in the squad. I remember saying it wasn't panic buying to splash out just a little to bolster the squad after the loss of Flamini, Gilberto and Hleb.... it didn't happen and this is the direct consequence. So now we wait and see what Wenger can do with a team with no leader, no direction and not enough metal to compete.

we might as well keep it moving! But don't you realise-we will only do this to get sleep at night when all the games poor results strikes us as hard and tend to undermine the loyalties of our pride. It is good enough we got a step to perfect players but are we up to challenges posed by the teams we yet to play?
For chrissake can we look the shallowness of the lads judging them by who they are up aganist on the coming games-It may be an answer to the poor run so far!

Yes William Galas is out of order but my main concern is Arsene Wenger refusing to spend to strenghten his sqard, especially at the back

Yes, as fans we have to move on and so does the team. If yesterday's team had played with the defiant spirit shown by the travelling fans on the terraces yesterday then maybe they would have gained a point.

With so many top players not playing against Man City ....we must except defeat....in fact i thought Man City could have scored maybe 5 or 6 We need to get some players back from injury and quickly. The game against Dynamo Kiev will now be very very tricky followed by the Chelsea game on Sunday Ramsey really must be given a starting place in the team , he looks like he is a fighter and not afraid to get stuck in .Its clear we have many many problems now with these young boys in the context of hoping we can win things with them, i say lets win whatever we can this season , be it the Carling cup or the FA cup have a decent crack at the Champions league(assuming we get through the group stages) I think it would be of enormous benefit long term for these boys to actually win a trophy , without the pressure of expecting them to win the league, I am 100% certain that Arsenal Need a break from the champions league next season and just concentrate on the domestic game , ok people will say you must be in the champions league for the money its generates for the club , but at some point we have to consider the team and what is best for the long term growth of the team as opposed to the club, these players simply cannot phyically compete at all these levels we do not have the phyical strenght in the squad to do so,,sure in the past we had men like Viera Henry Denis Freddie Robert Pires Campbell Wiltord Keowm ,but we need to except that we are never going to have such a group of players of such a high standard at the club all at the peak of their game all at the same time in history, and of course these were men real experienced pros who completely understood the game . with regard to the Captaincy issue the least said the better although this has its roots in what happened to Gilberto last year ,a man who would never never have subjected the club to such media ridicule as we are getting and are going to continue to get in this week ahead.

Come on guys get real
We will have our ups and downs
Sir Wenger (herd it first) will sort it out.
Real fans can take the ups and downs, ok we lost to villa, Man C, stoke and hull so bloody what we will still be there at the end. God I wish we can win every game bUt thats footy for you and those of you don't realise that you ain't true gooners.
Silly Gallas, make fab captain, a couple of signings Tony Adams, Martin Knoewn type in centre defence would be nice and a Viera in Midfield would be the trick for jan, but this is not going to happen we all know that, Van Persie right side mIdfield alas holland (scores goals there) and play some youngsters I say, give dennilson a rest but play Song he will be this years find.
I can't hear the fat lady signing yet can you?
Sir Wenger will come good and oh to be a fly on the wall in the arsenal changing room at full time aye.

why we didn't buy Robinho is beyond me? i understand that have to show faith in our young players and not just buy in loads of older ones. Thats why Wenger should of spent the whole summer transfer budget on 1 overpriced but outstanding player like Robinho if there available so what if its a so called 'rip off'. i don't think the young arsenal players would have any problems with arsenal transfer polices say if we blow it all on kaka, every player has it price

Yes lets just forget this game and the rest of this season like we did last season and the season before that and the season before that. Wenger's arrogance and disregard for what the fans think is mind boggling. I feel Wenger's activity (or lack of) in the tranfer market will shape his future. If he buys no one then its goodbye Mr Wenger.
