Wenger on the title race and Fabregas' injury

Manager Arsène Wenger has said that the title race still involves Arsenal, even after the 1-1 draw against Liverpool.

The Gunners missed an opportunity to close the gap on the Premiership leaders, despite taking the lead through Robin van Persie.

Wenger said: "The title is won in May and we are only in December. We will fight until the end, because I am convinced that Liverpool will drop more points.

"They have had four draws at home, so why should they not drop more in the second part of the season."

But the North London club will have to claw their way back into the top four without influential midfielder and captain Francesc Fabregas.

The Spaniard suffered an injury when challenging for a 50-50 ball, and is expected to be out for several weeks.

Wenger added: "It is a medial knee ligament problem. I don't know [how long he will be out], it is difficult to assess.

"Of course it is a blow, you don't want to lose a payer like that but we have to cope with it."

Fabregas himself admitted he wasn't feeling optimistic, saying: "I have negative thoughts about the injury. We will wait for the medical tests on Monday."

Our captain & best player is out for 4 months, any title hopes seem like an illusion now & AW will be exposed for lacking in common sense. Seriuosly, Fab has been playing competitive football for the club for about 4 seasons now & this sort of thing was bound to happen sooner or later but the enlightened 'gaffer' dooes not have a worthy replacement as he decided to keep his hands in his pocket during the transfer window & is more than likely to do the same in January. We really are fortunate to be in some sort of touching distance in the race let's see how it will all play out.

It is over we need to focus on how to build a better team for the next season. Mr Wenger you need to admit and get to understand that reality is good. Patience pays but we are tired of your sweet stories. Actions speak louder than words. We can simply say Arsenal needs a new touch in terms of leadership and managerial fields. It is good to compromise even though you have a focus. Any way face what you believe head on and suffer from what you impose on fans. May God help us and the team

I am sure he knows for a fact that arsenal have 0% chance of getting the premier league title, but he is in a position where he simply cannot say it. Because doing so will kill the confidence of his players, increase the pressure on him from the fans, and lead to even worse results in the future.
All we can do is shut up and expect more of these statements all season.

We have to be a little more realistic as fans, the league title is very much not within our reach. Recently our midfield has looked championship quality, apart from Fabregas and Nasri. Wenger should have made signings in the summer. If he hopes to get something done in the Champions League, he better make some quality signings during the Winter transfer window. Fabregas get well soon, we need you back and pump in some quality
